Hi,

i'm new to Climate control, anywho today was around 19 degrees. and i had the temp set at 21 degrees and it seemed to do jack schitt. now on another day, when it was around 27 or 28 degrees, i had the a/c set to 21 and it was heaps cold, Am i dumb is or this how CC works by cooling/heating to the outside or cabin temp? Is that how it's supposed to work?

Any replies would be cool, as i thought it would work like normal non cc a/c ie cold warm, fan/ ac etc

if that doesnt make sense, say you were in the snow and you had a TF and you crank the a/c it'll still freeze your nipples off with a/c on, but with a TL even if you had ac on and set to 20 degrees it wont kick the compressor and it'll still warm the car to 20 first right?

you may need to push the nob in so the aircon light comes on.

I leave the two knobs on the left on auto ( both ) and teh one on the right at 20. Let teh car do its work, don't have a problem.

I am no expert (i have climate control) and from what i understand there are two temprature sensors linked to the climate control.
one behind the front bumper which tells the comp the outside temp and one inside the cabin just behind the temp adjustment on the climate control.
19deg outside and 21inside = slightly warm air should enter car
27 28deg outside and 21inside=aircon cool air enter car
mine is a tj though :D

i've got the a/c knob right, i'm not that much of a knob, but i set fan speed manually to like no.2 and position manually in the face position. mmm tommorow is warmer and the car will be outside all day, might try it tommorow arvo

here is something to consider

if it is 19 degrees outside, and you want it 21 inside - 2 degrees isnt much at that temp, I can asure you it is actually warming the car, but because the unit pushes air, if that air is only a couple of degrees warmer, it will feel cool because it is moving air.

to make my point a little clearer, on a warm day (not in the car), take a regular house fan, turn it on 1, and stand in front of it......the air feels cooler coming out of it......but its not, its just being pushed onto you, its exactly the same temp as the air entering the fan blades, make sence?

I find with climate control, if you only want to make a small adjustment to the temp, but the air coming out still "feels" cool, I always direct that air to the floor, that way it is not pushing air over bare skin, like the face and hands.........

for it to work in full automatic climate control you need to have both the fan speed and the vent location thingy nob set to "auto"

now if for arguments sake its a 20 degree day, and you set your climate control to 20 degrees, obviously the computer is going to think "well its already 20 degrees so im just gonna sit here and maintain the temp and not do anything else"

now lets say its a 35 degree day, and you set your climate control to 20 degrees, the computer is gonna go "wow 15 degree difference in temp! i better get my finger out" and the fan will go spak and fly ice cold air round the cabin till the cabin gets down to 20 degrees, at which point it will again slow down and just sit there doing not much but just enough to maintain temp

i got no idea how to work the climate control in dads TW, it seems to have a mind of its own, so most of the time, its windows down :P

NB: but im just dopey

Thanks,

makes sense now, i'll have to see how it performs when it gets warmer

the other option is to turn the temperature nob all the way as far cold as it will go, that will put it into automatic freezer mode where no matter what the temperature is outside or inside the car, it will just blast cold air at full speed non stop

if you wanna use it like normal aircon put the temp to that, and then just manual adjust the fan speed to suit

OK. The TL/TW/KL/KW CC has three sensors. An outside temp sensor inside the front grill. An
inside temp sensor next to the audio system (those 10 or so holes). And finally a solar sensor at
the bottom of the windscreen (a little black square thing). The CC uses all three sensors to
determine whats required.
