Hi i was wondering does anyone know the factory specs of the speakers mouted in the dash of a TS magna.

eg how many W's the factory ones be

also do you think these JVC speakers

JVC CS-V424 SPREAKERS (http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027593&pathId=122&page=2)

would be better and if so how much better do u reckon
(im trying 2 see if its worth swapping them over cus the factory ones are working fine (sounds ok) and am wondering if there will be any real improvement)

thanks mark

Factory speakers are 5w

I pulled mine out and put a screwdriver through them

They've never sounded better.

Seriously seriously consider putting speakers in your doors.

Any speaker facing straight up from your dash is going to be useless.

hmm....so KB your saying im way better off without them (and just using the 6*9's) then with them?

if so does it like require me to take out most of / all of the dash to get to em?.

fairly interested, as next year ill be upgrading the audio, and although ill most likely put splits in the doors, just keeping my mind open :P

its easy 2 take the speakers out just use a screw driver cover in tape at the end wedge it between the dash and the spearker gril and slowly pri it up wards... the hardest bit is take the screws out, i had 2 use a really small head socket wrench that work very well but l8r found when it came 2 swapping speakers over the stupid factiry ones are design really shallow and modern 4" ones are 2 deep and stick out and dont fit

conclusion door mounts best way 2 go!

I had auto barn take the stock ones out and put 4 " kenwood in there.... they sound sweet... and they cut 2 6x9's right up the back.. and so next im looking to get 6" in the door....

but with the factory... when i got my 1st gen like 2 years ago the speakers were the pourest looking things i have ever seen.... i got them out real quick just for the aesthetic side of things... i drove around with no tunes for like 3 months LOL...

My speakers were so crappy, 15w max, made out of cork and cardboard, i blew them up when i put in my cd player lol so i forked out $50 and got some nice sounding jenson 4 inches, they sound good for what they are, just a bit of background noise i guess :P.

As mentioned before it's easy to get them out, just pop the grilles off and then undo the bolts and they come out.

You are much better off without the dash speakers, just put some nice 6-6.5" splits in the doors (I use Response 6.5" Kevlars, great bang for buck!!) and you'll love it.

Hey, the front standard speakers are worthless, replace the front and rears. i put 6.5" splits in the front with 6x9's in the back runnin off a 55wx4 amp then went got 2 subs runnin off a 1800w amp, best thing i ever done. kicks ass over any standard stock crap!!!

You know it's bad when the worst speakers at the shop sound better. Just replace them....no point even posting :P Just do it. I've never known a stock speaker in a older car to not be improved by replacement :)

i actually replaced the factory dash speakers a while back with new ones brought from mitsubishi and actually for what there worth sound alright. Kill Billy is spot on though when he says that 6.5 splits in the doors are the way to go, but they can be expensive.

I recently put some Sony 4" in the dash of mine (they were the only shallow enough to fit) and the sound difference is phenominal!!! cheap and easy!
