hey peeps saw some nice steering wheels at super cheap today and was thinking maybe to get one.
will probably get a monza wheel with a BOSS kit.
i can get both for something like $180 so thats not to bad.
now seeing as ive tried to install a CD player (1st time, took a while but i got there) and my LED interior lights project just seems to be going no where, i was wondering if it was easy to install one of these wheels or should i take it into my auto class @ school and get the teacher to help me out with it.
seeing as i know the horn is connected (wiring), i just know im going to stuff the whole car up somehow.
has oneone done it?
if so rough time estimate?
do i need any more tools if im going to do it myself?
can you refer me to a link on this website that can show me how?
because if this (after responses) is going to be to much hassle ill take the car into school and we'll fit it there
its a TR no airbags - anywhere.
some help would be greatly appreciated
cheers guys and gals

Its really easy, all you'll need in the way of tools is a socket set, allen key, although the boss kit may come with the right one. You might also want a steering wheel puller but isn't really necessary.
Make sure the wheels are straight, and not just the steering wheel.
The front of the steering wheel should just pull off, exposing a single nut that holds on the steering wheel on.
If you don't use a steering wheel puller then you'll need to do this-
Undo the nut, but not all the way, then pull the steering on the steering wheel until it comes loss. You need to leave the nut on so you don't break you nose when the steering wheel suddenly comes lose.
Its fairly straight forward from here on, there should be a dot on the top in the middle of the boss kit to show you where the top is.
There will be instructions with the boss kit that tell you how to wire up the horn.
hope this helps.
beware of airbags :o
hehe.. i'd pay to see that.

Easy as champ... Did it on my missus car having never done one before and found it quite easy. Only thing that stuffed me was the little mechanism that turns the blinkers off automatically when you turn a corner... I didn't have the little knobs in their slot properly so it didn't work. Also had to connect another earth wire to the steering wheel for the horn to work, but it wasn't any major trouble. Anyways, gluck!

I'll try... On the back of the little badge thing that sits in the middle of the steering wheel you should have 2 positions for wires to be connected. One from the bosskit and another one which will be your earth wire to the steering colum. Basically when I did it, I put the other wire under the nut in the middle of the steering colum. Basically loosened the nut off, put the wire under there and held it, then tightened the nut up. Bingo, earthed wire, horn works.

Make sure the wheels are straight, and not just the steering wheel.
its also a good idea to mark the spline vertical too it helps to align the wheel.

It's extremely straight forward. Once you've taken the OEM off you'll know where everything bolts in. If you have the correct BOSS kit you should not have a problem with the horn, only one wire connecting it anyway.
As was mentioned previously, shouldn't take you over 30 minutes.

same as taking it of anything. Remove the cover (horn) undo nut but not all the way, pull steering wheel till it hits the nut, remove nut, remove steering wheel, disconnect horn. takes all of about 5 mins. as said previously, make sure the wheels are straight before hand. i did my TE in about 20 mins from go to wo including boss. got me a nice illegal wheel on there now

Yea I have put on an after maket steering wheel it took around 20 minutes to do but you do need a star key to take the airbag out.
You will lose your horn abd the srs light stays on so take the globe out ant that fixes that little thing as for the horn I put in a set of air horns with a serperate switch to fix that.
As for being illegal well according to my insurance when I told them that I was putting it on they said that it was ok to do so.
