false phone number,
and when you take the car for a spin - never appear to be "impressed" with the car.
just drive it, and look like you think hard.
oh - and give that false phone number and address!!

dont give him your phone number. after the teast drive, admit you can't afford one at this time but you wanted to see what it was like anyway.

go when its raining. last thing they wanna do is stand beside the car talking about it. if its wet, and u take it for a test drive without the sales guy, u'll hardly hear sh*t from him!

expanding on what i said earlier,
if you appear to be "impressed" they can push you with "extra special" deals.
appear "dissapointed" and they'll back off, cos your a margin buyer,
example.
after driving the car,
"i felt the steering was a bit floaty, didnt like the peaddle feel"
"dissapointed that the rear seats arent split fold - where do i put my skii's?"
then make a comment that (for the sake of just getting a drive)
"the commodores are more powerful, and i like their steering feel"
"i like the electronic peddle adjustment on the falcons"
"you said this is still FWD? - would prefer a rwd car"
then end your drive with a
"thank you very much sir, definately will look at this vehicle in the next month or so, but ILL COME TO YOU when im ready to buy and bargain" - shake hand and continue your life where you left off lol
trust me - this is the only way to do it!

yep pretty sums up what I was going to say.
I work at a Mitsu Dealer, so I don't get them pushing me to buy
the salesman was telling me today to come take one of the demo's out when they arrive, when I was sitting in our display car which is under lock and key
complete opposite when they are with a workmate hehe

I got offered to book a test drive at the launch in Newcastle last night but I declined, stating that I only test drive cars that I genuinely want to buy, I'm not a tyre kicker. I'd like too but this is my perogative. I laugh at people that lie to just get a drive of a car.
But to answer the question, Just ask the dealer for a run.
yay, i get to test drive one friday morning... one of my clients works for mits and he gets the keys to his one thurs so i get the chance to try flog it on friday... yay for me :D

I was also at the Newcastle release last night (REALLY dirty green Verada  ) and I was impressed with the package, but I feel that Mitsubishi has left some simple things out.
* 4 way adjustable seats. But a power recline isn't one of them. And no option of a 6 way seat (with power recline) in 380.
* Sunroof is standard on LX (Upper Luxury) and GT, optional on 380and VRX, but not available on LS (Luxury) Go figure.
* No option of 6 stacker in 380.
* Alloys on 4 corners, but a steel spare. (optional alloy)
*No standard traction control on 380. Can't be THAT hard to build it in, can it?
*After 10 years of modern-ness having pillarless doors, we now have gone back to pillars. Allegedly for additional body stiffness, but I reckon it can't be that noticable. After all, many Europeans have pillarless doors, as does the WRX Subie.
*No wagon on the horizon.
*No LPG. Yet. I think it will come, however.
All in all, I was impressed, despite my criticisms above. I hope that the 380 pulls Mitsubishi out of the hole that the previous Magna dug. The 380 is a good package, let alone the LX that was also there (the Iron Lady fell in love with that!). I think I will be investing in about a year. Or when Mitsubishi gives factory or dealer fitted LPG. :D

Test drive - forget the HOW TO - I've still yet to work out the WHEN TO - How do you get the spare time!
Anyway, I wonder WHO will be the first member to OWN one. (assuming I haven't missed something already). And will they be an existing member or newee.

we had a brand new straight off the truck 380 LX come for a visit in the workshop this morning
stupid idea of putting the ECU on the rad support panel, small front ender means new ECU.
the LX we had saw today had beige interior, beige steering wheel, car has done 6 kms and the steering wheel was showing a lot of dirt.
Other then that the car looks great. Waiting for it to get to sales so I can go drive it.

* Power seat - fair point, thought the same thing myself.
*Sunroof - I'm sure they figure if u want a sunoof on a LS you'll cough up for the LX.
* Stacker - I must have my info wrong, I thought the base did have one.
*Spare - not a fan, but better than a space saver like the Galant has.
*Traction control - agree 100% (is an option though)
*Doors - depends who u ask, some people like em others dont, i assume it woodve cost too much to change from the Galant.
*Never ever ever was gonna be a wagon, ever.
*Don't expect LPG anytime soon.
