So, next stage on my verada is the window tint, I'll be going darkest legal - 35% i believe? But what I want to know are your opinions on the reflective tint? i've seen a few people on here get it, it looks pretty good, how do you guy think it'd go on a black verada? or should i keep with just the straigh black. Also is the reflective tint legal?

for a black car - go black, will just continue the whole pimp theme.....but 35% is weak, and well, just does stuff all, you can hardly call it black.

when we got ours done we didnt call the insurance company, and im telling you the tint is **** hot.

im not being a smartass when i say this but WHEN will this void your insurance policy if they dont you have it?

nah i get your point there.

but really what are the chances of that happning?

if your gonna spend over $200 on this, and you sure will, make it have a visuall impact on the car.

35% just seems like a waste to me....

but if you think that your going to have a crash and the tint will affect it, well by all means go 35%

then what's the point of having insurance at all?
No-one wants to crash, if if you do, it's not always your fault, but insurance companies don't want to pay for damage, so if they find ONE thing that they either didn't know about, or is illegal, they can put you right up **** creek. I'm a good driver, i've done driving courses and what not, but that doesnt stop the other idiots out there who'll run into me ;)

well then be happy with your 35% tint. or reflective or whatever you choose.
about 75% of people here below 35% tint and wouldnt go back.

if your going to go 35% dont do it at all, just save your money for something else becuase 35% is virtually a shade darker then untinted windows.

its useless IMO, people can still see what valubles are lying around in your car, so its useless in that regard, only benefit you will get is not so much glare in your eyes from the side, besides that its a waste of money.

anyway, good luck with your desicion

*EDIT*
i dont know if any people on here have reflective tint? never seen it before

It doesnt matter how dark or light your tint is, if it is past a certain reflectance rating (cant remember off the top of my head) then its still deemed illegal, eg. you can have 50 grade on ya car that looks like a mirror, u still cant see in, therefor its illegal.

In my opinion reflective films stand out alot more than dark films so go a dark film, how dark is up to you. The darkest legal film in W.A. ATM is called Street Legal and you can get it form tint-a-car's and solace's. Dont know if they are available in the east.

Visible light transmittance (VLT) requirements vary according to which window is tinted. New vehicles must comply with Australian Design Rule 8/00, which requires the windscreen to allow at least 75 percent of the light falling on it to pass through (with an exception for a band across the top of the screen). Only windscreens tinted during the manufacturing process are acceptable.

In Victoria, the rules state that apart from windscreens, all windows of a motor vehicle, "available to the driver to obtain a view of the road or other road users" must have a VLT of at least 35 percent. Further, "it is desirable that the light transmittance of windows to the side and ahead of the driver is not reduced below 70 percent".

No offence, but you've got to be kidding.

I've got 35% 3M Premium Darkest Legal Tint, and there's a huge difference... further more, I had budget tint before that.

Don't listen to 'if you 35% don't go at all'. If you care for your likelihood of a full insurance payout as opposed to a severly reduced or even a cancelled policy in the event of a crash (your fault or not), go 35%. Honestly, not only does it look sweet, it does alot in terms of practability and if you go to sell your car again, 'darkest legal' is going to tide over a whole lot better with prospective buyers than 'darker than legal'.

the 3M tint is actually some of the best stuff around, it stops people smashing the window because it has less chance of breaking even after mutilple baseball bat hits.

no thats only in adelaide

if u get reflective tint get the "endurance tint" it is legal and has a full life time warrante on everything, i have this tint at night time it just looks black but slightly more shiny, on an oversast day its looks silver and looks very nice,

from what i have been told the endurance tint is considered a "silver or mirrror? tint but is really a sort on black chrome. i have this tint in 35%.. with a design on the back 2 windows in 5 percent "slate" black

i have talked to my local tinter about having 20% black as opposed to 20 percent "endurance" tint. he said he has never had to replace 20% endurance tint because of a defect, but does have to tear off 20% black quite often.

personally i think if ppl get darker than 20% they need their heads kicked in ..... how r u mean to see a kid on the side of the road wearing dark clothes at night ? its just to dangerous
