Right, as we all know, my power steering is kaputsky. (Why I'm out of Magna Meet)

The pump and the rack are both history, and closer inspection shows the high pressure hoses will need replacement.

I'm considering dropping the lot, and fitting a non-assisted rack in. Ideas? Problems?

being an old XF falcon driver with a big 4.1L 6 without power steering my opinion is....

POWER STEERING IS FOR PUSSIES! lol

we had to replace our hoses when the head was rebuilt, cost roughly a hungy, but worth it cos with out it the steering is **** heavy!!!

I have also driven the old XD wagons, and that had no power steering whic sucked the big one, definately replace your power steering!!! unless of course u wanna look like a wrestler.... in that case dont!!! :bowrofl:

I have no power steering i dont mind it much but it sucks because i cant put a smaller steering wheel on (to hard to turn) but IMO i like the feel of non powersteering cars better.

if you have a powersteering rack without the powerstering pump working, then it's real hard cos the rack is geared differently.

i have a non powersteering model, and well i'm quite happy with it... with some nice tyres and new/greased balljoints and tierod end... it's very nice and light to drive... when your going slow (like a carpark) it aint too bad, but you can still palm the steering wheel

Yeah. Tell me about that one...

I'll go Armstrong Steering. It seems more reliable. (Ghost too, had a voracious appetite for power steering hoses, and fluid)
