hi

would the induction noise be louder if i take the panal filter out and the snorkle out aswell i know its not good to have a filter out for a long time but if i take it for a bit of a drive will that be bad for the engine i just love inductione noise.

just take the snorkel and resonators out. Keep panel in.

sorry to be a pain, but whats induction noise? Does it affect the exhaust note or is it just a bit of an intake whistle? Please explain?

Im assuming an "intake whistle"....

Do not take the Filter out and Drive !!!
Your intake will be FUBAR'd and you will be looking for a New engine in no time...
See the McCormicks Intake Resonator Mod Post for details on how to get a louder Intake Noise..

Intake Noise.. A Muscular Sucking sound of your engine taking in air..Similiar in Sound to Darth Vaders Intake resperator noise...

it gives a real tuff sound sort of like a muffled V8 when the engie is under load and the throttle is 1/2 -fully open
IE: going up hill and draging at the lights

nice, two contradicting answers :D
I can only expect it'd be a bit of both, as less resistance would mean the engine is sucking more air in through the filter which would whistle a bit and more air would mean a nicer exhaust note...

Does this sound right?

Yep.. Tougher sounding under the bonnet and a Nice Burble from the exhausty out the back...

I got rid of the plastic bit at the mouth of the snorkel because it seemed to block airflow- that is, the plastic tongue that surrounds the bonnet latch etc...

The car actually feels and sounds a bit better, couldn't believe it. It was kind of stopping any air from the grille going into the snorkel so it makes sense.

CBF doing CAI but I might do the resonator thing and get a new filter... esp if it makes the car sound a bit better.

then again without replacement cai ur just sucking hot engine air

the air entering the snorkel is from right behind the grille, how could this be hot engine air?

Using the snorkel it picks up cool air from in front of the Bonnet, if you remove it you suck in hot air from the engine bay= not good..

http://www.ssinductions.com.au/howitworks.htm Use a Snorkel system similiar to the ones on our 3rd Gens... Stock...

Thats what I got, I just removed the plastic bonnet seal which was restricting air flow from the grill up into the snorkel

I did the same cos it didn't look like that piece of plastic seal was doing anything much other than improving the looks of the engine bay (Note: i'm using the term "improving" rather loosely here). Easy peasy CAI worthy....

can any of these mods be done to a 2nd gen as danstraz has done?
