Hey guys and gals,
The paint on my car is getting sunburnt and as a result, the clear layer is peeling off and flaking- mainly on the roof. I have plenty of scratches and that on the thing too, so much so that a buff probably wont cut it (pun intended) when it comes to making my car nice and shiny again.
I don't know about you guys, but I like shiny things, they look cool. Is there anyway I can make my car look better without a full respray? Can I just get a clear coat? Any idea of how much does this costs?
Thanks heaps,
Danno

I have a similar problem with my red Elante, funnily enough though the only place the clear coat is flaking is on the front left guard where it hit a roo in town
I found the best way is to use some colour cure polish followed by a good wax, works for me and blends the paint into where the clear coat is so you hardly notice :)

easy... dont let it get to that stage in the first place!!
but now that it has happened, a respray will be the only proper way to fix it... im 100% (well nearly 100%) sure that there is no type of polish or wax designed to replace the clear coat...

If the base colour coat is OK a good spray painter should be able to cut it back or colour sand it and re-apply the clear. See a pro, advice is free (usually)

well I got the car like that, so there wasn't much I can do or could have done...
I did get it cheap tho, assuming that I'd have to respray it some time.
Cheers guys, off to the painters then... when I get some coin.
Any idea of what a full body respray in the same dark green colour is worth?
What if I wanted silver or something, any more expensive?
Cheers,
Danno
If you car is getting sunburnt, try using sunscreen. It works on humans lol

Go ask the painter...that's the only way you'll get a price. Also, you can respray just the outside or the inside panels as well if you want a colour change.

full reprays can be anywhere from $2000 - $5000... more if you want colour change as they have to take out the engine to do the bay, all the door sills etc. unless you just want the outter-showing panels done but it would look dodgy as with green door sills and silver outter-doors
