Ok so it's getting time for some tweaking.
Anyone recommend a Sydney supplier and/or tune shop for Unichip install?
What have people payed for their Unichip?
How much did your insurance go up and who are you insured with?
What do people think of the Unichip bang for buck?
Thanks.

unichip is about 1200-1300 installed and tuned. definately worth it when having a fair few mods. money better spent elsewhere if you dont have anything major done to the car. Insurance shouldnt go up 1 cent with the unichip no matter which insurance company u are with. its mostly audio gear/wheels that hikes up insurance.

slightly off topic but ive heard guys with imports try to stay away from the unichip, something about the original ECU being self learning and every 40 starts it reloads everything on the chip to 0 .......
ok i havnt explained it too well... i dont really understand it :P.... but yeah ive heard alot of bad things about the uni chip, though on magnas they seem to really do the trick or has ppl had that experience at all?

I had a unichip in my TE, yet to reinstall it in AWD. Paid $1100 was kinda mates rates. Spiro at Autotech Engineering in Granville. Retunes are pretty expensive from there. There is another autotech in Marrickville that I was going to get it reinstalled with, thats if a certain set of extractors can be arranged  . I wouldnt bother declaring it to insurance company as its not visible and you could pull it out quickly if there was a major accident.

Apart from the issues of breach of contract, I wouldn't rely on being in a fit state after an accident to pursue removing undeclared modifications.

I agree. Imagine getting carried off on a stretcher and the other occupants are being hosed out of the wreck when suddenly you remember "Oh **** the Unichip!" I think I'd be asking for more morphine, not "could we wait a sec while I grab something from my car".
