jus a question....

with a CAI setup...is there any particular reason why the air sensor needs to be so close to the air filter???

conversely why couldn't the sensor be mounted right next (read closeish) to the throttle body?

- more laminar(sp.) airflow there?
- less chance of water ingress and rendering said senson FUBAR
- may not need to re-wire sensor wiring

Apparently it's because the airflow is at it's straightest immediately after it passes through the pod. If you move the sensor two far away from the pod you are giving the airflow a chance to swirl in the pipe and the airflow sensor won't measure the ammount of air passing through it correctly.

Or atleasts that's the theory I've heard more than once on these forums.

ive also heard that its a good idea for it to be closer to the TB as opposed to the pod as it has a slightly more accurate reading of how much and how fast the air is travelling once it goes into the TB

I would have thought that you would achieve a more laminar air flow at the end of piping and not right next to the "oval shaped" filter...
