Just wondering how easy this would be...
Last week got talking to gf's friends bf about wanting to do the mivec swap but nnot being able to afford it in the forseable future and worried about ongoing maintinence costs.
he said "why not just fit a 3.5L out of the 3rd gen"
I said "well....."
and I realised id never considered it before...
how easy guys?

impossible as the motor sits the other way around...

Short answer: no. Long answer: yes. Anything is possible, provided you have the money to back it all up. Unfortunately our gb is on the drivers side, whereas the 3rd gens have theirs on the passenger side. It could be done, but rather pricey

cant u get a 3rd gen gearbox. that should solve the problem... if it fits.
u'll need drive shafts aswell and u couldnt just turn the engine around as the engine mounts dont match up...
it would be better to just get a DOHC from a 2nd gen V6

I didnt think it would be easy or someone else would have done it already...
I thought that if i got a 3rd gen that had been hit hard up the arse I would be able to get all the parts i needed. but i knew it was mounted the opposite way and thought "essentialy id have to have to swap the entire front end"
thought id confirm it tho.
