Hey all this is my first post in these forums. I'm 20 and i currently own a lightly modded toyota corolla but am looking to replace my 15 yr old car (which i love to death) for something that attracts less police attention and easier to insure. After watching a few of you guys run a few cars at WSID, its been getting me thinking about magnas/veradas. I like the shape of the 3rd gen magnas/veradas and after a a quick search on carsales the TE TF TJ magna V6 and KE-KH Verada is well within my budget (under $9500) what are common problem areas with these cars and what should i look for when inspecting these models?

3.0 vs 3.5 can u actually feel much difference? and what is the fuel economy like of both engines? how easy is it to get a manual TE-TJ. and what models come with the sports shift auto (is there any in my price range?)

If your still reading this thanks for bearing with my endless questions.

Regards,
Sam (Magna_NooB)

Welcome to the show!

$9500 will get you into a pretty tidy well optioned ride atm. The 3.5L is the better choice for output and you WILL notice the difference. I own one of each. Fuel economy can be quite impressive esp if you've ever driven a falcon or commodore of similar vintage.

Check out carsales.com.au etc for model specs and cars for sale. Unfortaneatly Magna's aren't the best resale value holders. Odd, seeing they're so reliable and underated.

also i remember a few years ago reading that mitsubishi aus was following Ford's lead in bringing out a dedicated LPG version of their cars out. has anyone driven one? or an LPG version at all?
