Well my KR is in well need of a brake overhaul/upgrade. I got quoted for the twin piston calipers from the wreckers at twenty dollars each, they look meatier also. Also Im buying new front rotors (RDA) and pads (lucas). Just need some final tips before i add the calipers, ive heard around the place that they are bolt on except for the lines needing changing? would like to speak to another AMC'er who has done this if possible PM me. thanks guys for any inputs and suggestions you will provide in advanced.

Early KR's did not, and i own a early KR. I wish to fit the ones from the KS. I guess theres no help avaliable so ill do it myself and figure it out on the way. will try to take as many pics and write up an article.

I've done the swap, so's Madmagna.

You need to get the calliper brackets as the stock ones dont fit the twin potters. The brackets bolt on though.

Then you need to get the lines from that car too. Just the end rubber line that goes to the calliper itself as the connection is different.

Then you'll be set.

Brought them today! 20 bucks all up, going to get my mechanic to clean them up, then run new seals through them. KillBilly Did you change master cylinder?

20 bucks, that is awsome

You do not need to change the master cylinder.

The hose from the strut bracket to the caliper needs to be changed, get ABS to make them as they are ADR approved.

You might as well change all the hoses on the car, this way you will get a far better pedal

I have done several of these conversions, the first one I did was the first one that I know of having been done. Was tricky at first to get the brake hose match but when done was more than worth it

I was lucky in the fact that my old man makes ADR compliant brake hoses and has all the connections needed. So the total conversion only cost me 100 bucks without rotors, which I got slotted DBA rotors for the conversion.

So as far as Im aware, my brakes are exactly the same as Mals (correct if Im wrong mate).

You wont regret the swap...and 20 bucks is REALLY REALLY CHEAP...good work!! :D

Oh MaccyD if you need the hoses, I'll see if I can get my old man to make some for you out of offcuts (there's nothing wrong with that, they're just left over lengths from when they make other hoses. So long as he has offcuts that are longer than necessary he'll make them for next to nothing as it'll get thrown out anyway).

I'll post them up/down/across to you if you want. And yes they are ADR approved as I said before...tested to 3000psi (or something like that..I cant remember)

Edit: Talked to my old man, if he cant do it out of extra stuff, they'll be about 40 bucks each for braided lines. And yes they are tested to 3000psi
