i took my car ( 96TE v6 ) to the auto tranny mechanics today as my gearbox was changing harshly, these people changed my gearbox 10,000kms ago, and he said it was the throttle positioning sensor, as soon as he drove it. He said just replace that and it will be fine, but theres no harm done with driving it like that.
Does that sounds right? anybody else have this problem ? also how much are they and can i install it myself ???
Cheers in advance.

i bought a new 1 but then the old one just came good after i cleaned it up a little ... so i never used the new 1

from memory it has a plug that plugs into it ... unplug it and i think it's a 4 pin plug ... mine had a heap of corrosion on it ... i scratched that off ... sprayed it with some contact cleaner then had another clean with a mini wire brush then some more contact cleaner then a little spray with some wd40 and put it back on
and away it went

TPS can also be adjusted, and if incorrectly set, it will bounce around like a roo. 2 mm turn makes big diff.

Yep, mine was green, had it cleaned though it didnt help much.
Bought a new one from Bursons ($200) so far so good, if it dosent last I will buy a original Mitsubishi one.
It's improved gear changes and idle.

you can get the tps tested its not hard to test with a fluke 98 or better...never seen a magna tps die yet...not sure what pins it is but with throttle closed 2 pins should read .8 of a volt and when you start to open throttle it will change.
