I think he means 'D' indicating drive on the instrument cluster. Pretty sure they're LED's or simular, probably can be replaced. I'd probably just mention it at the next service at Mistu'.

Are you referring to the illuminated D in the instrument cluster, as in showing that you car is in "Drive" ?
If so, don’t stress… I don’t think that it’s supposed to light up. It never has in my car
*EDIT* - Damn, beat me to it

i can only think of the D (drive LED) becuase the magnas dont have many LCD screens in em.....unless he was talking about an LCD moniter or something?
if its the LCD contact "jellico" for some "help" and what he will give you will sort out all your problems

its actually a small bulb lighting up the 'D' indicator on the dash. Honestly, its not a big deal, don't stress about it.

Yep, they are just small bulbs. My 'D' died aswell, i just replaced it with the '1' bulb.
To replace you will need to remove your instrument cluster.

Everyones "D" Dies... obviously cos its the most used light on the dash.
I wouldnt worry about it. Just causes more glare...

i wouldnt be worried enought to pay $50 to get something like that fixed, $50 is a fair bit of petrol money... $50 of petrol or a "D" light on my dash, id take the petrol

Yah but dont forget anything wrong with your auto transmission you wont know either.
Think the best was to do a swap for temporary.

40 bucks labour to undo 6 screws and change 1 globe...you got screwed mate
You do not need the light, if you hit limp mode you will soon know about it

Yeah - they're just a little globe. Obviously "D" gets the most use so is first to go.
I did what temagna did, swapped the dead bulb with the good one from "1". The bulbs look like a type that are specifically for the purpose and I haven't seen them in SupercrapAuto or Repco etc. I wasn;t going to Mitsubishi just to get a new one.
It's pretty easy to pull out the instrument cluser and swap them over. I took about 15 minutes from memory.
Cheers,
Pete

My D light went out for about 2 months, didn't do anything and now it's back lol. My dads TF D light has been out for a few years, if all your other globes work, you know ur in D when theres no light :).

The genuine bulbs are around $8.50; and are a proprietary design that only Mitsubishi sell so they have a monopoly on them. All I did was buy raw globes $0.95 from DSE, (with pigtail leads). Then cut the globe off the old stalk and wire the new globe into it, then refit.

Are these globs standard or specially meant for only specific Magna models? any glob more than $5.00 is to me like custom made.
$50.00 is a normal thing that you pay for someone to fix it. They give lousy excuse that they open the instrument panel to get to the unaccesible area.
If its not for you guys in the thread that mentioned that its a easy thing to do, I would have easily lost $40.00 by letting someone to do it. Should have some pictures to show how this is done for beginners. Save them a lot of cash. But then if you are not the mechanically type then is advisable not to do it.

i wouldnt know if these are model specific, as i havent looked at the 3rd Gen Dash :P ... but yeah, when i went to get mine, i basically said that "this is from the dash of my TR, i wanna another"
the dudes at Supa Cheap and Repco said that this was a Mitsubishi Genuine part. The dash lights that illuminate the speedo/tacho etc. are a little different, they simply pop outta their sockets, so ya can get the globes for them anywhere.
Its just a matter of inspection to see what sorta lights ya need.
