Hi,
First post and what a great site.
Anyway, just fitted a Sony HU and disconnected the 2x4in speakers uder the windscreen and put 2x6in in the front door panels.
Before I finish off and make it all more permanent I was wondering what improvement putting a couple of 6inx9in on the rear parcel shelf would make??
Don't want/need a super duper system, that's why I need advice if it's worth the extra $120ish to go two more speakers in the back??
Oh and one more question, I had to remove the road map pockets from the front doors (2nd gen) and obviously there are the four screw holes but also marks where the pocket was, what's the best way of covering it??
Did any second gens come out without map pockets, and/or would Mitsubishi have some sort of carpet for other versions I could buy??
Cheers
:D :D

They Should be Ok but SONY XPLOD are not rated very high in the Car audio world.. The red Coloring makes them look tacky and their are better ones available for that Price like Pioneer...

Do not get Kenwood..
Look at Pioneer, JBL,Clarion, JVC and Jaycar.. But leave Kenwood where they belong... On the shelf... in the store..
These would do the Job nicely

id go with the JBls in the first photo.
i mean i am noob with audi but they have a 100WRMS whereas the pioneers only have a 40WRMS rating.
dont worry bout looks, id go the JBL's on that info there, but then again i dunno how they sound

the rating on 6*9's are only as good as what ull be powering them with remember..
In my personal opinion id be dropping down to brisbane car sound and picking up a set of MTX 6*9's. I have mtx 6" speakers and they rock!!! the 6*9 are only like $120 on clearance too. rated at around 320w i believe

I would look at less Higher rated 6x9's as he is running them off a head unit..
The Less powerful the more sensitive they are going to be offering Higher volume per wat of input..
A Headunit puts out approx 15 W RMS , making them powere a 6x9 rated at 320W is going to be a rather hard task compared to pushing a 6x9 rated at only 40 W...
With Headunits, Buying a High Watt Rated speaker is some times not the Best Idea..
Sensitivity is what needs to be looked at .. 91db or More is what I would be looking at...

Yeah teh other guys said before....sony aint the best, i had a pair of sony 6x9s that i replaced within months. Im now running the JBL gto936e, i love the hi-notes they produce.
Just another thing watts dont mean squat.......

higher frequencies?? 6x9's are great because they balance out the lower frequencies ie they make bass cause of their larger surface area than a 6inch for eg. You want great sound get a set of good splits (and amps them even better), tweeters and 6" combo you know...kenwood make great stuff most of the guys on here would recommend them
...jokes i have kenwood splits and i've blown up my drivers side tweeter and 6' speaker, yes they were under powered running off the headunit but they're ****, dont go near kenwood.
edit* watts do mean squat, not peak watts but the average/nominal/everyday running power speakers can handle, watts root mean square is this power, the speakers are designed to run under that and will perform their best at wrms values

JBL 6x9's do make Crisp highs and Great lows, after all that is why the 6x9 was made to cover all frequencies...
GTRICE, Time to look at Getting some JBL Splits...or if you can afford them, Focal...
Watts do count.. especially Watts RMS..
The higher the Wattage the lower the sensetivity less Bang for Watt..
So getting a 40W Rms tolerant speaker may not sound too good of a 200 W amp but will sound good off a headunit..

I noticed that you have a Disclaimer, in this You were indicating that you say your Blown Kenwood Gear sounds better then Sony ?? I highly doubt it.. A Blown speaker sounds crap regardless of Brand...
A Blown Focal Utopia is going to sound as Bad as a Blown Boss speaker...
Blown Speakers make No sound... Damaged ones do..

no i was saying kenwood doesn't rule, but it is better than sony, i've taken out my blown tweeter, and my woofer in drivers door doesn't sound blown its just heaps quiet and still 4ohm resistance.... the rest of my system is still good and sounds quite good
edit* don't get the idea im an idiot, that'll annoy me
