hey all,
i have been thinking of getting a pod filter but i am not sure whether it is worth it. I have a 3L TE 1997. What difference does it make to the air flow and to the general running of the car? I have no idea where to mount it as where the origional filter sits will make it too hot for a pod. What bracket and Pod brand am i best going for and where can i get it?
I have a limited cash supply but i want quality and will stretch the wallet if it comes to it.
Thanx to who ever helps.

I have one... my advice is don't do it unless you have the CAI intake and an enclosed pod or the full CAI kit... to accompany it otherwise you will be sucking in lots of hot air.

On the positive though, it sounds great in there and I swear I have more power on full throttle up hills with it but it has killed low down power to a degree. There are so many arguments for and against, it is a matter of opinion.

Another thing is legality, if you have an exposed pod like I do in the engine bay it is not deemed as roadworthy, no one has actually confirmed that putting a box around it will make it roadworthy... just be careful off many and varied assumptions ;)

Don't forget to do a search... there are heaps of discussions around pod versus panel

Well I had a pod, sounded awsome and car revved more. (TH smoker kit)

I then tried pipe off the MAF down to pod on front bar. Sounded better but didnt notice any difference to OEM intake. (pod was ripped off by stick or something)

Put OEM box back on with standard panel filter, ran the piping from that to from bar, noticed no difference.
Took that piping off today and just kept the OEM box and filter without the snorkle on, and not only does the car rev better, esp up in the high RPM band, but it sounds mean as a pirate!

The car felt like a rocket tonight with the cold air.

*EDIT* Btw emz, you got pics of ur car? I've probably seen it around.

Once youve got enough monies. get a k&N pod and buy one of EZBoys pod boxes. that will sort out your problems
