For those that have purchased the Cusco LSD units from RPW over the last couple of years, you are well aware of the noise issues - issue being maybe too strong a word for it.

Either way RPW has been researching some new oils and has finally found an oil which is nothing short of amazing. The Diff in the RPW vehicle is now as quiet as sotck standard open diff - other than the tendancy to over steer you woudl never know there was a LSD in there.

Best of all after trying all the exotic synthetic oils incl redline, fuch's etc we ended up going back to woudl you beleive, a Mineral Grade LSD 90 weight straight oil with the addition of the one bottle of Redline friction modifier.

Within 2 km the car was completely differemt. Gear changes are smoother, and best of all - the car is so freakin quiete - I keep looking around for the magic wand.

So if you have one of the diffs - change straight way cause I assure you - you won't regret it.

Interesting, I'm running Redline MT-90 in the Ralliart at the moment which isn't too bad.

Gee, I wouldn't have thought that at all by looking at the thread title.

Was just giving my opinnion on my experience with Redline oil to date, since Dave mentioned that he had tried a few different oils and ended up using Redline friction modifier.

The benefit of the ralliart LSD are they are definitly quiter and don't need a special oil as such.

Side effect is that they are defintly not as strong as a CUsco type unit - had several sales alreeady from Ralliart people with blown diffs.

so of the 90 ralliart manuals around take a few away from that number that been written off. thats a pretty good ralliart owner to cusco LSD ratio there:O

Original post was about Magna's with LSD and what oil was used, specifically mentioning Redline.

My post, also about a Magna with LSD and what oil I've used e.g. Redline.

would this Redline friction modifier be safe to use in a box with out an LSD, eg just for smoother shifting?. 2nd has been a ***** to get into lately

It could help wouldn't do any harm to try although I woudl suggest checkign what oil is in the box in teh first place. Usually most places put the wrong oil in there which creates difficulty shifting.

The alternative is of course one of our short shifter kits which helps remove some of the issues to a small degree with teh shifting.
