i have 2 12 inch fusion powerplants in my set up and i couldent make up my mind so i installed one inverted one normal,so if it does make any differences i should get both spectrums of the sound, for what i have been told its good to install them inverted but not to many people do it as it takes up to much room in your boot.effectivley it would be turning your whole boot into the sub box.quote me if im wrong.

i thought u would just turn it inverted and the speaker would be pushing the bass into the box much like the other way but im no pro..can u post a ic of ur setup

If you invert mount the subs, you either have to wire them backwards (amp positive to Speaker negative) or some of us, like me, have a 'Sub Out 180' feature that puts the output of the sub 180 degrees out of phase. Does the same thing.
There is no difference firing into a box or firing out of a box, it's a vibrating cone in either a resonant airspace (ported box) or a airtight airspace (sealed box).
Some say SQ suffers a bit from having the subs inverted. I dunno about that, most of the subs I see done like this have big, thick, chromed baskets and massive magnets and are more of an SPL driver than anything. Fusion Jonah Lomu's, that sort of thing.
s_tim_ulate will be able to explain further.

Yes you will have to swap the polarity of the sub to keep it in phase with the rest of the system.
There will be no audible difference in SQ. (neither is better)
Box size will increase slightly without the sub there. Arguably sub "noise" (eg noise of the waves passing through the basket structure will increase which is a bad thing) but since it's in ur boot it won't do any harm.
Go for it...

i have my subs wired one normal and one backwards
and my subs have massive magnuants a little smaller then jona lomu but preety dam close
yeah, it makes no diff whatsoever so long as u reverse the wiring to keep in phase.
I have my DD sub inverted...its awesome. Advantages of inverted subs is u can have ur blingy magnet to show off to everybody, gives u a tiny extra amount of vol in ur sub box, and helps prevent stuff from punching up your cone.

Thats exactly why my IDMAX is going in inverted, that basket & magnat is just to darn sexy to hide away :dancin: :dancin:
That and the extra 1/2 a litre of volume it will give me :D
