i have a 91 magna TR auto, but my engine hood release mechanism is faulty. It doesnt unlock and now I cant open the hood. is there a way to release it ?

i have this problem with mine ever since i had the prang. I usually have someone pull the leaver (not to hard though you dont wanna rip it off) while i try pry the hood open lol.

pry it open ? the thing is that i cant unlock it in the first place...

If the bonnet cable seems to be connected (has resistance) but the dash lever won't move far enough to release the catch, then remove the cable from underdash lever and pull it with pliers.
If the cable is broken, the way to get the bonnet open is to reach up behind the bumper and try to get at the cable near the lock, cut the outer cable to get at the inner cable.Pull the inner with pliers, if this fails or the cable is broken at the catch then just rip the grill out (will break it) and lever the catch release from underneath with a screw driver or similar

Sometimes someone has to push down on the hood while you pull the leaver.. Common on Sigmas which is the Magnas brother.. :D

my car woudlnt start b4 and luckily there was a mechanic nearby. real nice guy too. didnt charge me too.

basically, you pull the lever and at the same time have someone push the bonnet up and down a few times. this will pop the hood open.

anyways found it wouldnt start cos my transmissiong wasnt on "P" properly. wasnt a battery issue.
