Sorry to hear that.
I know how you feel, in the last 2 yrs 1 car broken into once, another twice, house and shed 4 times, once my wife and child were asleep in the house when they came in and I disturbed them when I got home from work that night.
I think some cultures have the right idea, cut thieves hands off, at the neck....

fair go bain, not everyone can afford to insure their entire stereo. Everyone knows how insurance companies can be, especially with stereo gear.
"No fault but your own" .. maybe the blame could also be placed on the theives? pffft... fair go...

i agree with cam... i can't insure my sub and amp. not that i cant afford it, but the insurance company wont do it. the stereo can on be up to 1/4 the value of the car.

And with the value of the car now dropping to a whopping... wait for it... $2200 now my HU is barely covered let alone my 6x9's and 6 1/2's.

And TR... if the car was in ur yard u might be able to claim it on ur home insurance, might work out better.

I'm pretty sure with our home insurance if some piece of sh!t breaks in to the car it can be covered that way.

Ive had 3 different cars..

My lantra was broken into twice (all stereo equipment gone - Insured through NRMA), my Ford XF had the same deal (NRMA insured) and now my Magna (RACV)

All my cars have had everything in them insured.

If you install big ass systems and not have them insured then it is your own fault (my opinion). EVERYONE knows how much cars get broken into or otherwise there wouldnt be such a thing as insurance.

Was their an aftermarket alarm on the car? If you can afford a couple of grands worth of Stereo surely you can spend $800 on a high end alarm install?

Usually cars that are broken into at your own house means youve been playing that system fairly loud for people to check you out..

sort of agree with Bain, no good buying something if you can't afford to look after it..same old story really. all my gear in my car is insured with AAMI, being $4,500 for stereo gear.

Bit of a bummer though getting it ripped but heck should maybe look at a alarm as well....

As BainO said;

It's always good to have a decent alarm system... NOTE: Alarm system is not a foolproof device, it merely acts as a deterrant.. so never assume that with an alarm will save your car and whatever gear from being ripped off.

Anyway.. since u paid so much for the system, surely u can throw in a few hundred bucks over the premium to insure the system..

The thing is funny how RTA laws allow uninsured cars to be on the road.. Back home no insurance, go to jail simple as that..

The Laws also needs to get tougher on the theives... it's too laggy over here... Doesn't matter is Labour or Greens or Liberals.... MPs are all bullshit...

At the end of the day What is a politition???

If you vote liberal will they demolish the gst and other stupid costs?

in answer no..

I have never seen a good politition that has bothered to make good his promises....

Do what i do and my friends do..
we see suspisious people.. we wait and watch.....

Then run out with our cricket gear bassball bats and soccerball (hey im italian gotta have the ball) and scare the um stuffing out of them...

actions speak louder than words dont you think??

and waiting 4 hours for the cops doesnt work anymore....

(do you know how funny it is to see a huge man followed by his Fat 14 year old son with no top on.. my mate whos pretty big himself and a tall lanky guy: me running screaming and chasing people in the dead of the night in mirrabooka>????? hahaha)

it sux hearing theses storeis..

But im with the others...if u modify your car, should b smart enough to get a decent alarm...If not...sleep in it.

Im on my 3rd car...all 3 have had systems, and also all had alarms. my first car was stolen (never recovered) so i thought about where i play my music and where i park...and my cars since have neva been touched...

think...and act.
