Hey all,

I'm looking at two options here and I want to know whether its possible, how much and is it worth it;

-Upgrade current standard auto gearbox (if possible) rienforced parts, etc
-Buying a brand new performace one (already strengthened with heavy duty everything)

this is for a 99 KH Verada

Thanks,
Michael. :cool:

What is your budget???

I intend to have some work done to the gearbox of my ride before my next phase of performance enhancements. At this stage I've only mentioned it in passing to a couple of performance workshops - both of them commented that they didn't think there was any reason it couldn't be done, but they don't do the work themselves - just send it off to a performance transmission place with the amount of horse power it needs to handle.

I don't think there would be any difference between upgrading the internals of your existing gearbox - or replacing it with a pre built up box. It would have to be a Magna box (unless you have big $$ - you'd be looking at custom bell housing etc), and I can't imagine there's a workshop in this country which has strengthened magna auto boxes sitting on the shelf waiting for someone to walk in off the street looking for one. So really your options are;

get yours pulled out and rebuilt with strenghened internals (car off the road for up to a week) ....or....

buy a 2nd hand box, and get it delivered to your chosen workshop to be rebuilt with strenghened internals, replace yours with rebuilt one, then sell your 2nd hand box (up to a week to rebuild box, then car off the road for a day or two).

Seems to me the first option is less f*cking around.....

Budget? Don't worry about that. :bowrofl:

I own a VT commodore (on superlows and 16" SS mags........... *hides into little corner*) to drive around in so im not too fussed if they have it for weeks.

But buying a secondhand gearbox and getting it tuned for however long it takes, then to have my car off the road for a only couple of days sounds choice ;)
