View Full Version : Anyone have Pedders Coilovers?
Can anyone with Pedders Sports Rider Coilovers please post here as i am looking into them and wish to know how they ride.
I currently have the sports rider springs only with standard shocks. Went for a drive over the weekend on some country roads and was not impressed at all.
Please only post if you actually own or have owned a 3rd Gen with the Pedders coilovers.
Thanks.

I dont think anyone is going to post, when I asked a few months ago the range were incredibly expensive.

I had some very stiff Pedders Shocks, I'm not sure is they were coil overs. They were expensive enough though, they had sports ryder on the box then came in. They were awsome I'll say that, no body roll at all. With the pedders springs and 18x8" wheels they had so much grip it was incrediable. On the mountain runs in the QLD club I was watching the lead car slip and slide all over the place and mine did not miss a beat, the tyres did not complain either. I was really impressed with them. They were a really stiff ride though, it got really annoying at times.

Garuantee that you didn't have coilovers - sounds like shocks only.
Coilovers are adjustable to you can adjust the ride height and therefore the 'stiffness'.

wrong, height adjustment & damper adjustment are NOT the same thing...
height adjustment is only how high the car sits
the damper is done from the top of the strut, under the hood
would take pics but they are no longer on the car... :D
I realise this but the stiffness is still somewhat adjusted with ride height as it changes the spring rate.

you'd think so.. but not really. Anyway i have investigated the pedders coilovers and have some info however as i dont have them on the car atm i better not post
ok /smartassness
yes they are better then pedders springs, and would certainly be better then what you've currently got cos you didnt change the shocks. They are a fair bit firmer tho then normal sports rider springs.. the trade off is better handling. For most performance car lovers the ride wont bother you at all, but if you are unimpressed with the ride of your pedders springs, your gonna disslike the coilovers even more!
also clearly with adjustible dampening control you can tune the suspension up a bit to suit your personal applications which i deem a huge advantage

just checked the pedders catalog and there doesnt seem to be any coil overs listed for magnas so id give pedders a call before you investigate further
cheers

That's interesting considering they don't sell them.

Perhaps he didn't call about coilovers for Magna's specifically.
Perhaps he didn't even call about coilovers for any car specifically, just general coilover pricings.
Don't Assume.
Maybe you are right....but considering the topic of the thread and my first post - it's fairly safe to assume he was talking about TL's.

3 adjustments on real coilovers:
- Bump (compression) dampening
- Rebound (extension) dampening
- Ride height
Changing ride height does not change spring rate, unless you use variable rate springs (coils are wound more tightly at one end of the spring.

I rang pedders about 3 months ago to see if they had coilovers and they said they did about 5.5k so I laughed and said thanks goodbye. Why start a thread and be so antsy about something if it doesnt exist.

a few months before i got the hotbits coilovers, pedders told me that 3rd gen cilovers were definatly on the production list, but were still a good 3-6 months off. and the guy guessed theyd be around 500 a piece, similar price to the como ones they make.
anyway, pedders suck nuts..go hot bits, you wont be disapointed-awsome ride

Mine were retail at 500 a piece, but I got a big big discount cos I got a lot of people to go to my suspension place. The boxes were Pedders Sporty Rider, they were the firmest ones I could get.
