I have read on these forums that the VR-X (TJ) springs are 10mm lower than stock (non VR-X) springs. Can anyone categorically confirm this. My MMAL workshop manual does not indicate this. It shows executive, advance and sports all being the same overall height of 1435mm. It doesn't list the VR-X but it implies that it is the same as the sports.
Interestingly it also shows (on another section) that the Ralliart is also 1435 high.
So if the springs on the sports models are lower then where does the extra height come in to make them the same height overall
Me thinks the springs are the same height just stiffer.

Okay firstly that online CD manual is full of little inconsistancies. Secondly, Mitsu cannot seem to sort its own dimensions out period. Go here while you can:

and download the current Magna catalogue, from which the pic below comes. According to this sales catalogue the ES/LS have LESS ground clearance, but yet are HIGHER OVERALL than the VRX. So the base car sits lower, but its roof is somehow higher? I doubt it.
Thirdly, the Fist test. I just had my TJ Series 1 stocker factory springs swapped over to Series II VRX springs. Before this change I could easily put my own fist between the tyre and the guard at front and rear. Now - I can't. Result - I reckon the car is sitting at least 30mm lower. Maybe 20mm, but its DEFINITELY LOWER, no matter what these publications are saying.

The brochure is for a newer model than the TJ so can't really compare as they may have changed springs.
I am interested however, in your spring swap experience. If you got a 20-30mm drop by changing springs, then that answers the question this post served to answer. That is, if I buy some Whiteline 'control' springs, will I get any drop over std VRX springs. It looks like the answer is NO.
Whteline only say what the resultant ride height will be when measured from the wheel centre to the guard lip. Which is a theoretical 30mm drop.

Whiteline Control Springs only dropped roughly 15mm. I did a before and after test to check this out. Doesn't seem like a massive difference, but it no longer looks like a 4wd look, still a gap but its definitely on the subtle side. Oh and my mud guard scrapes on some bumps now.
The drop distance is basically the same of the VR-X, basically if you have a VR-X, then there will be no height difference when you change to the Controls, but the springs are much more stiffer.
