I am thinking of doin' a lil somethin' somethin' to my car,
Ive read posts on certain issues, but now im confused!
Has anyone replaced the muffler or exhuast on it and found
it worth while? (i didnt want those 'popping sounding mufflers) but
just a deep note? Lukey or Magnaflow? Not sure whether just
to get the muffler or wait until i have the money and get it
done from the cat-back.
Also, anyone sold their Enkkei standard rims? Just so i know
how much i could sell them for when i get bigger rims. And
would you go 18' or 19'?
Also, not sure whether to get CAI or just get a K&N panel filter. Only
reason being is that where the pod rests on the lower part
of the car, im worried about it one day getting water sucked
up in their in a big puddle or something. Has anyone had any probs
with this?
Thanx for anyone who helps.

kk, if your thinking of TH Smokers CAI, this will NOT fit, the front bar doesnt let it get down there... shame, but i used half of the kit, and its definatly worth it
secondly, if you do go CAI, make SURE you get hte $180 pod from anthony or similar, its the ONLY one that works... tried a few cheaper ones (was being a tightass) and to no avail, spen the $$$ sounds good
thirdly, ive got a custom SS exhaust, with custom SS extractors, and it sounds AWESOME. not sure of any gains, as i havnt had it on a dyno, but revs up heaps quicker, sounds awesome... like a real phat roar... top stuff
still got me stock enkeis on, but would be able to sell for $1200+ i imagine with good rubber :D
hope this helped

Thanx SEIRYU,
Did you just go into a random exhuast performance
place for the exhaust? I was thinking of going to RPW,
seeing as they do alot of magna work. im fairly new
to the whole mod thing.
Also, do you have the extra lip thing under the front wig of your
Ralli? I was thinking of getting it, but for $600 for the part
without paint or fitting, im too hesetant to buy it as it
looks like it wil rip off in two days from something lol
BTW; what ar TH smokers? lol (i know that might sound stupid) :D

TH Smoker is a member on here :D
i didnt go to a random shop, one of my good mates in SA owns a well regarded performance shop so i went to him to get it done, me extractors were a custom job done by mike who used to design the genie extractors when they were good, he started his own shop in sa, and wanted to do them for the magna's so i lent him my car for a few days for him to press them up for me, all worked out sweet as, HEAPS more torque over the standard ralliart extractors, and a tough note from the exhaust :D

Theres not much performance gain to be had from changing the exhaust on a Ralliart.
I changed it a total of five times on my first Ralliart to minimal gains.
If you want a nice deep note, all i suggest to do is what i have done to my current Ralliart and that is to replace just the rear muffler (no piping change) to a big Cannon muffler. Sounds fantastic with no droning.
I have a CAI intake with a pod filter that sounds good and seems to improve performance. Contact EZBoy as he did the work and makes the parts and it works really well.
I put RPW Stage 3 race extractors on the first Ralliart and found them usefell as well.
The other good bolt on mod is EZBoy's throttle body
Really depends on how much you want out of the car.
The best thing you can do is what i have done to both my Ralliarts and thats throw a UNICHIP in.
Do all this and you have a 14 flat quarter time if you can drive the car right, just ask TZABOY (aka SP#03) as thats how i delivered the car to him.
If you need any further info, contact me.

Yeah, at the moment i just wanted a nice deep note, if im gonna be spending
some good money, ill have to make it a xmas pressie for my car.
lol

Where does the pod sit?
Ralliart Boy
11-10-2005, 10:18 AM
Unless you put some form of turbo on your piping, the chances of sucking water into your pod are nil. Its an Urban Myth.
On the first Ralliart, the pod sat in the front bar next to the gills on the passenger side and i never had a problem.
On this Ralliart, it sits in an EZBoy pod box up in the engine bay with some 100mm piping feeding air into it.
In both cases, no problems and nothing sucked into it except nice, fresh, cold air.

11-10-2005, 11:08 AM
I had been told that some of the piping in the ralliart
goes down to 2 1/4. Would i be able to have a CAI,
and change the muffler? or would i have to replace the small pipes
with 2.5 as well?
[SEIRYU]
11-10-2005, 11:09 AM
nope, can just do the muff if you want :D
CAI is at the front of the car, TOTALLY seperate from the exhaust...
JASS23
11-10-2005, 11:16 AM
i know i know :D
cheers.
Might get the CAI and change the muffler at the back for now.
but a cannon muffler? not too sure about that. Wouldnt it
look kinda weird or is it just me?
I thought cannons were mostly useful for turbo cars. wouldnt
that loose back pressure?

I've got 20's on my ralliart
The gauges read oil preasure and air/fuel ratio
The oil presure gauge is kinda good so u know when the car is fully up to temperature. The both used to be up the A pillar till a nice cop chick in the city told me i should taken them off or i'll get a smack, so now from outside all u can see is the oil presure and the air/fuel is sort of hidden between the big gauge and the door tweeter

RINGA///ART
11-10-2005, 11:56 AM

no higher than the steering wheel, and u dont really want them higher because it blocks your line of sight, thus being a defect

:) Ive been looking for replacement rims for my car, but i
just cant make up my mind. I cant go any bigger than 18"s
cos just dont have the funds :doubt:
I was thinking AMG or ROH Fury's, but then i think shadow chrome
are better suited on silver cars. Not sure about chrome on silver.
[SEIRYU]
11-10-2005, 12:04 PM
chrome on silver looks rather poo IMHO... not a huge fan of bling...
i was going to go 19" black with polished bits... that was the best option IMHO, that way, even if you went only 18" black always appears bigger, and sets off the silver with black door handles etc.. then just tint it man, and she's SWEET

BTW; i got quoted $550 for a CAI job. Is that
an average price?

depends what your doing. just get a 100mm flex pipe, take your exisiting snorkle off and plumb the pipe to somewhere near the fins on the bumper. i should of done that but i went a pod-woops
Hey Seafood...
If TZAs a ricer what does that make Ralliartboy?? haha lol
Is there anything more than a ricer?
JASS23
11-10-2005, 12:07 PM
Ive got tint already, although its only the 'darkest'
legal. I wanted to go darker but then there is
always that insurance thing and the cops. Just
cant be bothered.
Ive already gone through a booze bus location
and they didnt stop me and i have a big vinyl
on my windscreen. i felt lucky.

Hey TZA, what brand muffler did ya put on?
I put the muffler on when i owned it and it is an X-Force.
The muffler looks and sounds so good that i put the exact same one on my current Ralliart.
Looking at around $350

depend on how you want to do it...
my pod sits just near the thermo fan, and there is a NOTED increase in power...
got piping (steel) from the throttle body, with the MAF extended to have the pod & maf right up the front, sounds & feels HEAPS better
TZA did his a different way

[SEIRYU]
11-10-2005, 01:34 PM
Would you use a circular pod or an oval one?
NO NO NO NO NO
dont use circular pods... i experimented with two before heading to the oval one...
circular pods will result in a power loss...
teh oval one is dear, $180, BUT it is the only one that will fit well...
i was being a tightass, but finally got hte oval one.... +1 FTW~!

(i havent really looked lately at my engine bay) but, is that
because the piping is too big or just isnt any space at all for it?

piping fits fine, mines actually larger than the one shown there
but there is no where for the pod to sit under the car... you have crossmember & front bar in teh way....

do what i did
use half the CAI kit TH Smoker sells, rest it behind teh thermo fan (cold there) then get some other piping or modify your origional snorkel to scoop up air & throw it up on the pod...
thats the way
or failing that, do what TZA suggested, keep all the stock shiat there, and pipe from the air box down to the gills on the side of your kit... that sounds easier & cheaper by far
good luck, have fun, stay cool
