definetly worth replacing, others you have an accident and insurance wont pay because you have a defective vehicle, just remove boot carpet and you should see it from there. Very simple and very worthwile.

Having a bulb go is a normal occurance for any car... but as stated above, it is dead easy to replace... unscrew the few plastic screws holding the carpet behind the light, pull back the carpet a bit, twist globe holder for the brake light section and remove the globe (by pushing it in a little and turning). Take the globe to an Auto shop or even a service station and get a replacement globe of the same rating and pin positioning and reverse the process to put it back.

ur...yes it is much more important than the (D) light IMO. please just follow the procedures on how to do it as stated. All exterior lights visible to anyone outside is always a good practice to replace, dont wait for something to happen and regret.

cheers!

lol is it worth to replace...

...Well lets see,
You can spend a couple of bucks and 10 mins to replace it or:
-Get pulled over for having a defective vehcile, cop a $ fine, spend $100's making your car roadworthy.

-Have a car run up your arse because they didn't know you were braking, possibly voiding your insurance, meaning you will have to pay for their car's damage out of your own pocket as well as your car. Could be $1000's.

-Similar case as above, but involving injurying someone you care about.

For the sake of a couple of dollars, i think you should replace the globe.

Being a driver you should know all this, it's pretty basic stuff.

well if the car is not worth a buck 20 for a new globe give it to me, I am sure I will spend the money and sell it for more.

globes r like $5 depending on what it is.....so yes id get it replacled.

i really hate drivers (not you) who have both rear lights blown, and you cannot tell when they are stopping.

so before it gets worse replace em now, both of em IMO, becuase chances are soon enough the other globe will blow to and you'll just be doing the same job twice.
id kill 2 birds with the 1 stone here just do them both

And don't just replace the blown 1, do both at the same time. Saves you having to stuff around in future and is just a healthy practise to get into.

I do that... and keep the unblown ones for emergencies!

Just as bad (or worse!), those that have their brake lights permanently on, like the fairly new 4WD I was driving behind the other day... man that was annoying.
Or a similar one I saw recently, at night, where him hitting the brakes would result in all of his rear lights turning off...

But yeah, they're like $2 to replace, and a 2min job. Even easier in the wagons (pop panel, twist)

just out of curiosity, but does ur left tail light globe blow most of the time? coz my wagon always blows a rear left tail light more than the others, ive replaced that bulb more than 5 times this year i reckon

Had mine about 1.5years, and have only had to replace one fairly recently. But it was the left (passenger).

You might have a moisture problem or something in that side

They are the fog lights I reckon. Yes they are annoying, I hate it when people don't know how to use it properly, just like the Excel/Accent rear fog lights

How does moisture make the bulb blow faster?

Last week replaced LHS brake bulb for 3rd time in ~12 mths on KJ wagon.
(an interesting outcome too... worthy of separate thread)

I try buy pretty good quality bulbs too, avoiding the cheapo china stuff.

Always keep a spare bulb/s and screwdriver in the car now.
