Hi everyone,

I know its a really odd thing to happen, but my sub suddenly cuts in and out.... ive checked the wires are all connected properly... and dont really have a clue what to do...

its a Boss 1200 watt sub, not sure if its just poor quality,
or is it the amp? which is also Boss, but 1000 watt

Any info would be appreciated,

Thanks
Baz

my subs did this too. But then they eventually stopped. the amp wasnt getting power. i couldnt work out why. fuses were okay, and my friends amp wouldnt get power either. i then realised that the two cables that plug into the amp for power were meant to have a small third wire spliced into them. this small wire had fallen out because the guy at WOW in kedron must have been dodgy. so i spliced it back in and everything is fine. i dunno if this is your problem or what... but it was mine. I dotn even know what that small wire is for.

Does it only do it while the car is off ?? Sounds like you need more power. If it keeps happening while the car is on just wait for tim or magnat to reply.

Have you had a look at the LPF settings, could be set too low?
But i'd say there is a loose wire somewhere, check the power cable coming from the battery that the fuse is in properly. Easiest thing to do would be to hook up an amp you know that works to the subs and seeing if that fixes it, if not could be your wiring or the subs (if you use your wiring with this other amp). Keep swapping things around til you find the weakest link.

Rod that "little" wire would be your remote wire, it tells the amp to turn on or off with the HU.

Thanks for all the info... but i dont think that its a wire issue, I checked all I could before posting the thread... Its really odd... the sub was fine for the first month or two, then suddenly it kept cutting out, it didnt seem to matter if the engine was on or not...

But today I was fiddleing around with it and noticed that if I puch the cone in, then the sub starts working, and after a few seconds it cuts out again... I thinik its some internal thing in the sub its self...

just wondering if you think warranty will cover it...

Try connecting another speaker, you might have blown a tinsel lead(s). Might be worth checking that out. Then the connection to the coil if you can. Sounds like a sub problem if the amp isn't going into protection.

Check ur tinsel leads on ur sub. Sounds like it's been overdriven.

Maybe time for a new sub.

In all possibility it Does sound like the Voice Coil has become Seperated allowing the Subs motor Structure to pop out and cause intermittent Playing.. You push it Back in and it goes again for a Bit does sound like it is damaged internally...

Time for a New Sub by the sounds of it...
