Hey guys,

I am getting a bit of trouble changing gears in my Manual V6 TE. The thing is somethimes gear changes are ok but sometimes it doesn't want to take 2nd/3rd. I changed my clutch about 5000kms ago. Even chosing reverse sometimes is a problem. Its done about 152k kms.

My mechanic did the 150k kms service and changed the tranny oil as well.

Do you guys have any idea what could be wrong.

Thanks

definately! go and have it properly checked. I had a friends Camry and it refuses to engage 1st gear and similar as yours. The gearbox is definately going to be a gonner IMO. have it checked, do not think it has anything to do with transmission fluid, as the problem is on gear shifting and engaging. I may be wrong but I feel it should be the gearbox problem.

you said the clutch was replaced lately, was it the pressure plate and driven plate or was it the hydraulics? Its just that i think you hydraulics may not be holding pressure sometimes and it is no disengaging the clutch properly.

When you say its hard to get into 2nd/3rd, does it just not go, or is it hard and it crunches? does it happen going up and down gears? At least check your clutch fluid level and if its low you may have problems, bleed the system anyways.

The gearbox oil would only play a part in it if it was replaced with oil from an incorrect grade, could make the oil too thin or too thick for the temperature.
