Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to this forum, but I own a TF Magna and a Mitsubishi Galant GSR that has just had the AWD conversion and a 2.3ltr stroked EVO motor dropped in...(more on that later)... but am an active member on the VR4 forum.

I have only had the magna for a couple of weeks, but I purchased it with a damaged bonnet and boot lid. Nothing major, but it got me to thinking, will the TJ series Bonnet and boot lid fit?? I'm not a TJ wanna be, but just like the look of the TJ boot lid, and thought if the bonnet fits too, I'll see if I can get both.

Other mods I'd like to do are lower it slightly, I have a set of EVO VII Mags which will fit, I want to do something in regards to body work, but it must be subtle, as it will be a work car.

Another question actually, Does anyone have a lowered Magna they use for towing? Sounds silly but it won't be lowered a great deal, but I don't want to limit my towing options if it is lowered.

Sorry for the long post but I had some questions I can't find answers to

Cheers Trav

TL bonnet and boot will not fit.

I have lowered springs in my TL and also use it occasionally for towing and it's fine.

bonnet wont fit unless you change the front bumper, headlights, front guards, and all the mounting points would be different aswell.

However, the TJ boot and bonnet will fit, are you sure you aren't confusing te TJ with the TL.. becuase there are some people on here that have done the conversion i think, the only thing you need to to when putting the TJ bonnet on is put a tj grill on there aswell..

i think people have moved the TJ boot onto the back of TE/TF/TH's, and the only thing that needs to be changed is the tailights (if you leave the original THs in... there is a noticable gap between them and the boot lid).

Sorry... I am getting confused. The TJ is what I mean...

I'll just edit the top post...

well in that case, you can put the TJ boot and bonnet on, but you will also need the TJ grill as the nose of the bonnet goes right down to the front bumper and you will need TJ tail lights for it wont line up flush with the boot lid.. :D

SWEET!! I'm heading down to the wreckers now to see what I can find...

... and the verdict is....

It's cheaper to buy the parts through ozeparts, or genuine ones, and get them painted!! Got quoted $750 for the bonnet and $500 for the boot... and they were the wrong colour, so I'd have to paint them anyways.

Does the price seem pretty high to anyone else??

Did you try several different wreckers? Because those prices seem insanely high to me. I would have thought no more than a few hundred a piece.

Thants what I was expecting... There aren't a great deal of wreckers in Canberra that I know do this model magna. Is there anyone else who's good for these parts?

I have a TF dropped on King Lows and regularly use it for towing. Camper van, 6x4 trailer, and only last week had a TJ on the back of a car trailer. Towings not an issue

Don't want to get on my high horse or anything (nhey!) but towing a TJ on a trailer which essentially in total probably would have been heavier than your TF is a bit naughty with the law isn't it? I am only curious, not flaming or anything.

Possibly... But I had a full car load of people so that added to the weight of my car :P

And I've got a h/duty t/bar rated at 1800 Kg :D So it's okies cos AFAIK the TJ's are somewhere around the 1600 Kg mark.

Careful with the load rating of the tyres. Might have to get new rubber for the magna

I had to put new tyres on the Rims, so I got that sorted. Should have seen the tyres when I got the mags... Not much tyre left at all!!

Definately rate the Bridgestone Protenza II's...

pretty much all wreckers up here charge $150 for front or rear bumpers and about $200 for boot. Not sure about bonnet, $2-300 perhaps. For some things, it is easier to buy from ozeparts (which i did when i needed a new front bumper) because painters charge less cos its easier to paint than a 2nd hand one with the wrong colour
