Hi people, from reading lots of previous posts on Unichips, it's a bit confusing but can you tell me if I was to get a unichip for my TL VRX would I have to upgrade my exhaust system, brakes etc... Can my car get a unichip for starters and if I'm not mistaken it will probably cost me around $1300 n- $1500 fitted and tuned????
Sorry if this has been asked a million times but I'm pretty new to all this mods stuff......oh also would my factory waranty be void if I got a Unichip installed? most likely I think.

You can install a unichip without doing any other mods at all, but you'll get less improvement than if you had made other changes. It's up to you which way around you do things. Note that after you make other changes you'll need to re-tune to get optimum performance.
Your warranty won't be voided outright, but if MMAL consider the unichip to be a major contributing factor towards component failure they can refuse to honor the warranty for that component.

Any sort of mods will potentially void your new car warranty. It's up to you to choose wether it's worth the risk - or wait til your warranty expires to start modding.
That's the first of many choices you will need to make if you intend modifying your ride. I firmly believe careful research and planning is the key to getting the most out of your modified ride. Having said that - most people I know end up just randomly buying bolt on mods willy nilly as they can spare the cash.
In answer to your question - a chip, or piggyback ecu system such as unichip can be installed on a car such as a magna with any level of modification. In the case of unichip and similar systems - the chip is fitted and then "dyno tuned" to specifically suit your car. Because of this - you may find you don't get the most benefit out of future modifications without another tune.
Dyno tuning of this type generally costs around $110 - $150 per HOUR. This can get quite expensive, especially if a piggyback ecu is your first mod - and then you need to get it retuned numerous times in the future to accomodate additional mods. For this reason - most people will only have a unichip or similar installed after a number of other mods have already been completed.
It all comes down to your individual budget, tastes, and plans for the car...... but like I said, do yourself a favour and do as much research and planning as you need before you start spending your hard earned money and you will be better off for it.

Some form of Cold air induction setup, higher flowing air filter, extractors, mendrel bent exhaust system, high flow catalytic converter, straight thru muffler (you probably already have this), RPW plennum chamber, upgraded throttle body, cams (valve springs and cam gears also), flowed / portmatched head, piggyback ecu. That pretty much covers off all the "go fast" bits available for these cars without getting into any form of 'forced induction'. If money was no option you could easily spend more than the cost of a sprintex supercharger kit on the above N/A mods.
By the time you've done half of those mods - you'll probably want to make some improvements to suspension and braking as well........ thats another topic all together.
Seriously - RESEARCH, it's all been done before.
