is it ok to disconnect the battery on a 3rd gen or it will it reset the computer?thats if there is one....? and when i disconnect if its safe do i a) take off positive b) take off negative c) take off both
Should be all good, usually it locks the stereo, but yours is an aftermarket one anyway.

when removing battery terminals disconnect the negative then the positive. Then going back on positive first then the negative. This will reduce the sparks and prohibit damage to electronic components. Late model vehicles are spike protected but if you dont take the risk you will always be safe

I am curious, if I am off for a LONG holiday, Is it better to have someone to start the car for me or just better off disconnect the battery?

If the battery is left disconnected long enough the computer will reset not that it is a major drama... it just has to re-learn again.
If you go one a LONG holiday it is best to have the motor turned over once in a while... even take it out for a little drive if possible.

I am not an expert and I am not 100% of your question but some say the battery needs to be disconnected for a good 20-30 mins before you can really be sure of the reset... I am sure cleaning the terminals is fine... doesn't matter if it resets anyway, it wont hurt... it's more of a pain having to reset your stereo settings than anything else.

lol ah no, I ask because I wont be in Australia for at least two months. Will miss my car definately. So was asking for the correct way to do things, as I heard some people just disconnect the battery, while a lot of people do the warm up for 5-6mins twice a week thingy. So thats why I asked. Not like the TE got a super computer that tells you the fuel milage like you guys, although there is a cpu. But yeah, that was my concerns for me. lol

I would just disconnect the battery for the two months, if someone starts the car for 5 minutes twice a week thats (16*5mins) 80 minutes of near cold running. You would be far better to park it up with full air in the tyres and a full tank of good fuel and disconnect the battery
