View Full Version : TF 4cyl to V6 conversion
hey, just wondering if anyone has converted a 4 cyl TF to a V6 and if so whats in involved, what parts are needed,
i know the ECU needs to be changed, does the engine bay wiring harness require replacing ?
does the trans ecu need replacing, acc cable etc?
thanks

it would work out to be cheaper, simpler and more legal to change to a 3L or 3.5 Model.
i can't see any problem legality wise as they came out in v6 and 4cyl factory, and the brakes are the same on both cars and a 3.0l V6 is cheap as to buy
legal problems are engineers certificate- costs a fortune to get one. the reason to get one with changing the engines is because its different engine mounts- practically they all need to be changed because theyre in different positions

Depending on the monting points, if they do not have to be changed I can see no reason for a certificate as the TF came with 3.0 and the verada with 3.5
If you need to make any changes to mounting postions then you will have issued, depending on how obvious the change is of course

whilst it did and maybe easy, swap to a 3L equpied car to save the hassle.

she asked about an engine swap from the 2.3L 4cyl to the V6, not the 3.0L V6 to the3.5L V6 tho...

Buy the engine
Modify the loom
Modify the mounts
Install the engine
Sort out niggling problems.
My suggestion, buy the one you want, transfer any parts you want then sell the old car.
