Recently i have noticed that their has been a flood of lowering advice and points and which one should i get etc etc. I have gone decided to get kings spring added to my sportz ( insurance permitting.. they will get back to me tomorrow i hope, im with GIO :? ). I went around the Central Coast getting quotes and they where all up around the $500-$550 mark for kings lowering springs ( 40mm ) fitted. I even told one guy at JAX that they do it for $360-$400 in sydney and he told me " well go to sydney then if they are better, all they do is chop your springs and paint them yellow " i was shocked. Does anyone know a place on the Central Coast preferably or in sydney or newcastle where they are compeditive? Also a guy said that they are $140 per pair.. is that right? Can you bargain with these people or am i going to have to folk out the $500? Thanx.

I don't know anywhere on the central coast sorry.. but I can say that even in Darwin it didn't cost $500 to get Kings 40mm at each corner.
But yeah, they do cost around $140 a pair.

geeeezuzzz!! $550???? mate, ur gettin d*cked!!
buy the springs from AM and then get ur mechanic to put them in.... or even a suspension place. i doubt it'd cost more than $150 for labour....
when i got my pedders put in (at my local tyrepower), it cost me $350 - fitted!! pedders were gonna charge me $380 just for the springs!!
definately ring around.....

riiiiiight. Sounds like that guy is a wanker!
If that's what they all did then there wouldn't be too many places left working as they'd all get sued!

You should be able to buy a decent set of spring compressors with dual teeth for about $30!!
Thats all that mine cost!! and they are good - though get dual teeth rather than single teeth as they are safer!!

Hmmm super cheap auto = spring compressors = super cheap hole in the head.
Springs are under extremly high tension, especially std non lowered ones. Unles you know what you are doing pay the $$ and get them doen. 100 bucks is not worth having one of these babies let go and taking your head off.

come off it!
I bought a pair before doing my springs. $40 a pair. They wouldnt sell them if they didnt work properly. Think of the claims that would come of it if they sold faulty products. Australia has one of the MOST strict saftey levels in the world when it comes to Saftey Standards in products.
Twin claw grips at either end. Did the job fine.. Didnt slip, didnt have anything pop or explode..
Following the right precautions nothing should happen. Being rash and naive about what youre doing of course could bring about some problems, but any spring compressors can do that!

Sounds like you didnt know what you were doing more to the point...

Ive use two different sets of the cheap type... single and double claw...
I had NO problems and have changed 6 sets of springs with them ....
Just make sure that they are kept slightly lubed.
