Hi,
Has anyone got any quotes on a 380.
I was quoted $38,000 onroad for a auto base model 380, at Mitsubishi at Philips, ACT.
Sound right?

Maybe the saleman thought we ment the VRX. Nah he definately ment the base 380 in auto. Pity that would be cheap for a VRX!!!

I was told about 45000 for a VRX, but mind you, i ticked every optional extra box
The 380 is meant to compete with the Base model falcon and commodore.
There is no way in hell someone is going to pay 45 - 55k for a 380 when they can have a XR6T or SS for those prices..

Give Bill Lilley a call. They have been much cheaper on every quote i've gotten lately than either of the canberra dealers. They also have 2 of the 380's on display in the riverside plaza.

omg... mitsubishi is making a lot of mistakes at a time they can't allow any. how heavy is the car? if its over 1500kg that seals the deal for me. its a great car, but too little to late. problems: powerful fwd; too expensive; smallish boot; sport models get slower; old-school engine; bad turning circle.
i know its not its competition but i would get a mazda6 or an accord euro. yes i know they're front wheel drive (and front wheel drive can handle beautifully), but they have smaller high tech engines, slightly lighter bodies and are more suitable for these petrol prices.

Remember this is a brand new model, there won't really be any discounts at this point. It will be full recommended retail all the way! Have a look at the RRP of a TW ES and then add on the on roads and you will be shocked!
On Redbook, the RRP of a TW ES auto is $35,790. Add on roads to that and you'd be close to $38,000.
Its the same for all the big four. But of course, the older the model gets, the more they need to discount it to keep their sales numbers.
But if you want a 380, be prepared to pay pretty much retail for the time being.

didn't mitsubishi promise to have no discounts or something to retain resale values? if thats the case then they really needed to have a lower price. it is not going to sell in the necessary numbers as it is, which will result in discounts, which will destroy customer faith.

38000 for a base model is rediculous
hrmmm... might really be time to join the pushrod club at those prices... :doubt:

Mitsu have released their official pricing and stated that the base model starts just shy of 35K and the GT tops out at around 50K.

The Falcon XT Auto with AC starts at $35555 before on road costs.
The Commodore Executive Auto with AC starts at $35900 before on road costs.
The 380 sounds similar.

yeah but with the magna's they were so heavily discounted the RRP wasn't relevant. i think mitsubishi has stated there will be no discounts (to retain resale values, which really hurt the magna). so if they're not going to discount the car if sales aren't happening then the whole car will fail. price was very important for the 380, and they may of just stuffed that up badly.

yeah but how many would they have sold at that price??? I was forever seeing them having deals on like $26,990 driveaway no more to pay... and sometimes they had ex demos with like 3500-4500kms on them for $19,990 on road.. thats whats killed the resale..
unlucky to anyone who actually bought a brand new magna ES for the $35110 plus onroads.. if they went to trade it in 6 months, they'd get about 15k for it!! :doubt:

ok here is the prices
380 Exec(vz) XT (ba)
$35,990 (auto) $35,990 $35,880
$34,990 (man)
VRX sv6 xr6
$39,90 $39,960 $39,710
LS Berlina Fairmont
$40,990 $43,450 $43,195
LX
$46,490
GT
$47,990
so basically the upper end of 380's are cheaper than the other 2, while the base models, are aobut the same.
I was surprised at the RRp of the base model, although with all the equipment i still thought it was a bit sttep.

Yes they are RRP..
But I dont know of any people who have paid the above prices.. I know quite a few who have paid less though.
If the dealerships cant haggle to get the sale, they will have a tough time trying to make the sales..

I don't believe the vz commo execs even come with air con standard. So for a comfy drive you would have to add around $2K to the $35K base.

Yes they are RRP..
yeah, apparently the the auto section of todays paper said ford and holdens gonna release some special edition to be priced at $29,990, just to make sure 380 doesnt grab all the attention. Its gonna be a hard for 380 to succeed, but i think they have a great chance i really like the car.
oh well if 380 doesnt go well, then it'll mean i can afford one in the near future lol

Yes, you are correct there, as he said for $5 K on the dot you can get leather, Sunroof, and something else, I forget what though.

Im hoping it goes wonderfully actually. It means competition for FORD and Holden and all 3 of them can have pricing wars that we will all benefit from.
Ford and Holden as companies need a big wake up call in terms of their Quality Control. Hopefully the 380 will be trouble free (being the first of its kind here in Aus) which will give it a good wrap and better sales.
Then the other 2 companies will have to pull their fingers out and improve on their 'quality' for want of a better word.

I have a friend who is salesman at reddings motors mitsubishi on the tableands (far north QLD) and he quoted me roughly $32,000 + on roads for the base 380 and $43,000 + on roads for the VRX!

i think the accord Euro will be a big worry for this 380! Id consider buying a Euro over a 380, and even more so an Accord V6 if the damn things came in manual! :doubt:
