Hi all,
This has probably been spoken about 100 times, but I'm having trouble finding in search forums.
I have a 2000 TJ Magna advance. It has the standard 4 speed automatic.
Is it possible to convert to tiptronic? Is it just a matter of getting hold of the tiptronic shift selector and the dash indicator and plugging in, or is it not possible. I have been told that the transmission is exactly the same in tiptronic and non-tiptronic TJ auto's, but would the wiring/plugs etc be heaps different.
Any help appreciated.

Not sure but good question, i think its been covered before.

Someone was looking at the wiring diagrams for the normal auto and tip-tronic not sure of the outcome.

I can say i have become a big user of the tip-tronic in mums TJ 2 as now i dont ever drive her car in D and i have been using her car last 2 weeks in peak hour with tip-tronic and it seems to be helping with the fuel usage too as my driving style has cause a much better fuel consumption then her using just Drive.

If it was a possibility id put it into my car.

In a copy of zoom magazine a month or so ago i found a guy in Adelade who has manufactured a little box that when wired in to ANY auto it allows you to shift like a tiptronic. 1 is first, 2 is 2nd, D is 3rd and Od is 4th.
