Hi all,
This has probably been spoken about 100 times, but I'm having trouble finding in search forums.
I have a 2000 TJ Magna advance. It has the standard 4 speed automatic.
Is it possible to convert to tiptronic? Is it just a matter of getting hold of the tiptronic shift selector and the dash indicator and plugging in, or is it not possible. I have been told that the transmission is exactly the same in tiptronic and non-tiptronic TJ auto's. Would the wiring/plugs etc be heaps different.
Any help appreciated.

The tip tronic shifter and surround will fit, but the electronics are different. Some of us a while back were experimenting with this but to no success, seems you will need the newer ECU as well.

Thanks for reply. so the ecu that needs to be changed, is that the whole engine managment computer, or is there a control unit for the actual transmission that would need to be swapped? (where is it?)
Thanks,

In last months issue of zoom there is a gearbox guy in SA who makes a little box that you can wire in to shift your car like a tiptronic.

1 is 1st
2 is 2nd
D is 3rd
overdrive is 4th

basicly, ghetto tiptronic.
$400 gets you change if i remember rightly.
