I just got my self a nifty lookin 93 Magna TR Sedan and the first on my check list is a sterio system.
I'm fairly new to this scene but i've done A LOT of research so i should be able to avoid any stupid questions.
My budget is $1000, give or take some.

Now, so far all i have is a Pioneer TS-W305C 12" Sub (http://thebassbin.co.uk/shop/product/products_id/256.html) in a box (doesn't seem to have any port holes), which was kindly given to me. ;)
The sub is rated at 400RMS and 800MAX. I'm actually not entirely sure that the sub i have is the one i've linked to, would the model number be on the sub somewhere?

So i'm in the need for a head-unit, 2 tweeters, 2 mid range and a mighty amp.
I heard that most 6x9's (splits) arn't very good quality wise so i'd like to stay away from them.

For the head unit, ALL i require is an input to plug my iRiver MP3 player into, at the front or back, i don't mind. I don't need any fancy crap like MP3 playback or anything like that. I'm not sure whether i should buy a HU with an amp to drive the speakers or to plug them into the external amp.

For the tweeters and midrange speakers i'm not sure, my manga (apparently) only has 2 4" holes on the front tray and 2 fairly large ones (i'm thinking 6"-8") in the back tray. So i was thinking tweeters in the front, mids in the back, sub in the boot.
I'll need help with brands. I hear a lot of good and bad things about a lot of different companys.

Now for the amp. I'm pretty lost on this part. I can understand the wattage and all that, but ohm and bridging connections gets me. Also, will my manga be able to handle the power it chews? Will i need to buy a more powerful, er, the name has slipped my mind -- The thingy that powers the battery while the car is on.
If possible (money wise) i'd like to eventually buy a second sub, so should i buy a mono block for this sub or buy a massive amp to acompany the second sub when it arrives?

Phew, anyway, ANY help would be awesome. Feel free to blast me on any info i've got wrong. ;)

I'd go some 6" in the doors, makes the sound so much better, i've given you my msn in your other thread, talk to me sometime i can help you out with installation etc.

Welcome to the world of 2nd gen installs. First thing, before all others is to plan how you are going to mount the front splits ( the door trims are screwy ). As far as head units go I like VDO and JVC and are good bang for your buck. But either way look for 1 with 50x4 or greater, more than 1 RCA outs, sub control and in you case an AUX-in port ( for your mp3 thingy ). Kicker make wicked mono block amps but i'm pretty sure even the older ones still cost a fortune. For alot of questions you may have use the search option up top first as some ppl get a little cranky repeating themselves. Oh and gimme a yell when your ready to wire the H/U, the wire diagram that alot of people has is a little out dated.

Good luck

6.5 inch splits in the doors, new head unit (prefably not and lower end sony) and run a decent amp to them, you will be more than happy with these three simple things.

have to agree with macy ... hu + splits + amp for $1000 will get u some good stuff

look at jvc or pionner for the headunit (if u stretch your budget u could possibly score a low end alpine deck ... very very nice). should be able to get something with 2/3 rca-out, remote, etc for ~$300 without to much trouble. at a minimum make sure u get at least 2xrca out (front speakers + sub).

front speakers. look for a set of 6" splits (Dump the woofer into the door, throw the tweeter into stock position on the dash, and putthe crossover's into the kicks). No point really specifiying brands here apart from the usual suspects (MB Quart, JL Audio, Pionner, Infinity, Jaycar, etc). Best advice anyone can give u when buying speakers .... go and listen to as many different sets as u can. Your the one that has to listen to them, and your the only one that knows what sounds good to you.

Amp: best bet would be get a soild 4 channel amp. Use 2 channels to power the front splits, and bridge the other two channels to drive the sub. something ~4x60wrms should give you plenty of power. but if you can afford it theres not reason not to go 4x100wrms. And for brands checkout Coustic or Jaycar Response series. Great value for $$$ with either brand

Wiring kit should cost u ~$50-$100 depending brand and size (4, 6, or 8-gauge power + ground). Bigger = better basically. Personally i've just got an aeropro kit and been using it for a few years now ... never had a single issue with it
