This might have been posted, but i thought id ask anyways.
WHats a good exhaust system for a TL? And do some exhaust systems void the warranty?
Im kind of organising some upgrades for my TL. So looking at windows tinting, air filter and a exhaust system to start with .

I also got a nice set of 17"x8" alloys that come off my commodore which im considering slapping on the TL. But i dont know how itll look yet since im not really in favour of lowering the car. (yet)

( here they are http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/372/car0044bj.th.jpg (http://img293.imageshack.us/my.php?image=car0044bj.jpg) and http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/5207/car0148do.th.jpg (http://img293.imageshack.us/my.php?image=car0148do.jpg).

Unfortunately your commodore alloys almost definietly have a different stud patttern and wont go on the TL.

Yeah, Commy stud pattern is a bigger PCD (119 or something).

Falcon wheels are same PCD/Stud. Offest is a bit different though.

If you want an exhaust, EzBoy can set you up with a Redback bolt-on for a good price. I know, I transferred the $$$ to him today, it should be in Next Friday.

Yep get a redback system off the net, I managed to get a full system for $300 including shipping form the guy on the net. I then put in a hi flow cat and what a difference. It's defiantly the way to go.

oh yeah and no problems with warranty. I have had mine to the shop a few times in regards to maintnance and warranty and no one eaven asks anything. I also hava K&N filter i got from the us for $40 and a CAI and no ones blinks an eye

OK Shame about about my rims not fitting on my TL because i really like their looks. I put on over the stock TL wheels and it would look really nice but oh well :P . Anyways.

This redback system. I have read about it all over this forum . And ive come to a conclusion that i want one! But now 'redback' is a brand or? Type/style of system? And is it available at muffler places or is it something unique strictly of the net?

Cheers

Until something goes wrong and they blame it on your mods. Then you will look under S in the yellow pages for a solicitor. Just because the service dept has not said anything doesn't mean the warranty dept won't give you grief.

Did the CAI make a difference? I'm still trying to find a way to make it look neat under the bonnet. Where's your inlet?

Actually I have had the engine in for a new throttle body, my cruse control thing stuffed up and no one said a thing, i had both the CAI in and the exhaust. As to the exhaust well what are they going to say? It’s no different then getting a VRX one put in. Also if you read the fine print in the warranty it states that Mitsubishi will honor any warranty claims on the vehicle provided any work that has been carried out to the vehicle was performed by a qualified mechanic/business and in accordance to all relevant Australian standards, which also carries over modification to vehicle such as exhauts ect.

As to the CAI, mine is VERY NEAT. Basically I went and got some 100mm pipe from a plumbing shop, cut some of my battery box cover. The pipe is plumed in round the battery box and sits behind the grille next to the radiator; there is a small plastic panel that you can take out near the LH light on the TL. Looks very neat and makes a huge difference, plus the induction noise is soooo sweet, I don't have a digital camera but I will get one from work and take a photo for you.

Wouldn't this detract from the cooling efficiency of the radiator though? ie: You're taking air away from the radiator...

No The plastic cover bit is just their so you don't see straigth into the engine bay from outside. it doesn't affect the radiator air flow. I will grab the camera from work and take some photos for ya. It will become more clearer then.
