sorry if im bring up an old topic, but i had a look and i could only find minimal info about it,
so the question is, can i adapt the new style tail lights (say 03 model) by fitteing the new style boot? the reason im asking is because when i bought my car it had a small crease about 3 inches long just above that long magna badge, and since they dont make any flash lights for the old school magnas (mines a 99 model) i figured why not upgrade. so other questions. is it as easy as bolting on the new boot to the old holes? do the new style tail lights fit flush with everything?
by the way the car im trying to do this to is my 99model (i dont know the model, it had sports tourer stickers where the executive or advance badges used to be) however that shouldnt mater.

i have no idea on what u have to do.. but just a peice of advise on those stickers.. if u have what i think u have.. the xs tourer... take them off.. they look really bad!! get a heat gun (or hair dryer, like me) and peel them off.. looks so much better.. attached pics show before and after...

Yes you can, you just need a new boot without the "crease" colour code it to your car, then just swap the lights.

as far as i know.. i may be wrong.. most of them came out as a manual, (although i have seen some autos) and the sony head unit and stacker came standard.. and those tacky stickers, but thats about all i know of

If you were thinking of changing the whole boot if you want the NEW 2003 model etc..to a TJ or TL. The curve structure of the boot lid is different meaning change the whole boot section of the car has to be change not just a simple abc swap. not the boot lid alone.....there is some talk about this. I recommend you just for spedning wise get a same replacement and save your money for better upgrades.

well thats good to know, so your saying that the sony mp3 head unit came standard, haha thats mad. i read some were on here that the reason that the recurculate air and fresh air switch thing may play up is cause of an after market head unit.
Cause 80% of the time when i switch it to recurculate air it wants to creap back to fresh.

well that sux, in what way are u saying that the The curve structure of the boot lid is different? height, width, would there be uneven lines?

Like I said, wont do the trick, requires a full mod to the rear boot.
Just replace with a TE-TH boot lid and u be fine. or get some panel beaters to fix it up for u nicely. It is just safer and save you heaps. Not forgetting that you will not confuse the next buyer if there will be one. lol

i can't see there being any problems swapping the boot and lights from a TJ-TL over, as all the locations for brake lights, indicators etc are the same.

there might be some slight changes in the boot lock though?

well from those two links u provided me they both say that if i put a TJ boot and lights on my TH it will be a success, and obviously if u leave the old lights there there will be a gap.
So at what year and model did they change the shape of the boot and lights.
Is there some where on here with all the models,year and a pic? so to clear it up compleatly with this name buisness.
