My father in Law got one in his 2001 RAV4, they have decided to RAV4, so today I took out the navigaiton system and am thinking of using it in my magna.

i got few questions:

RAV4 got digital KM meter like Lacer MR not like magna which shows old style Km's.

now when i took out the system there were 2 cables going to speedo and after disconnecting thoes cable all i could see on navigation system was that RAV4 is standing at one place and turning right and left , while i was actually driving which definately means thoes cables are connecting to some thing which tells the navigator how much it has travelled.

now this thing has made me confused big time as magna got all old style km reader.

so how to over come this problem?

2ndly

as discussed above about it DVD-ROM
it got DVD-rom from navigation info, but it cant play AV Dvd's/Video CD's / mp3,

is there a possibiliity that it can be chipped to do that??? like mod chip ???

3rdly

at Autobarn one of the guys told me that it will cost me around 300-500 $$ to install it only because its size is a bit bigger (1-5mm all around) then std magna console.

really in need to know thoes things other wise i have to sell the unit which i really dont want to.

pics of the unit can be found at,

Hmmm, the magnas have electrical cables which you should be able to attach these to.

These are what I used to attached the RSM upto. Also - the trip computer would have all this information in it due to the electronic nature of that.

And i can tell that you if you can't fit it - let me know - I would be interested in it!!!!

thanks Manual,

checked with strathfield today

first they said $250 for installation , i was happy cool its cheap.

but when it cam to the odometer settigns they simply refused it

even though i told them that i have every single cable you might need

but they said no, sorry mate cant do it its a big job,

talked to toyota and they told me $1000 for installation if i bring my own unit

or $750 for istallation if i purchase the system from them which comes to $5000 including installation + system.

so i have opted for selling it for around $3100 ono mark.

Why did they pull it out?

Im sure you could "MAKE it FIT"

The speedo I think comes from an electronic sender on the gearbox...
should have the info needed there.

I pull it out :) coz RAV4 was getting repossesed by finance company.

me wife was thinking that we can run the DVD's on it as well but we cant to my understanding.

and then the ECU thing its a bit out of my leauge.

Hmmm, I dunno why it would be such a hard thing to install into a car - how many wires come out f it??

I assume the standard 13 stereo wires and then maybe some wires for speed and distance readings??

If you have a gregories manual then you should be able to figure out which wires are which!!

Hmm $3100 - ouch - maybe I aint that keen!! Cheers anyways!!
