hey guys

i have a bit of a crisis on my hands (or maybe not) but its really frustrating me. This is my problem, i hope someone on here can tell me wat's going on.
-----------------------------------------
Well, few wks back i blew both halogen xenon headlamps, and also one LED parker globe. But the weird thing is, i blew the right-side headlamp one day, few days later i blew the left side, and a few days later, the left-side LED parker globe.

I checked all fuses, had to replace one (parker globe fuse), till this day no fuses have blown.

But i must say, now i am experiencing hardly any bass from my sub (yes...i have a mild sound sys comprising of stock speakers, hu, amp, and sub....amp is connected to car battery)

But when u open the boot, the sub, its working. But the funny thing is, the sub works like it used to, ONLY when i put the car in "acc", but when i start the car, its as if i've got no subs. :doubt:

Another prob, when in "acc", both led parker globes work....but as soon as u start the car...the left one doesn't work.....but after u drive around for sometime....both led globes work

Does any of this make any sense to anyone? has anyone experienced such probs??

I think it may be cause the battery is getting weak. Or is it an alternator prob? i dont know...

Please Help!!!

Madan

stick a voltmeter on your battery. It should read about 12V with the car off and about 13.8V with the car running. If its above 14.5V or doesnt go up when the cars running the alternater is suss'
If you have recently added something new check its wiring, and check your aftermarket wiring in general as you may have an earthing problem on your ignition controlled circuits.
A battery swap wouldnt hurt if you can borrow another one, just to be sure. :)

Shouldn't the alternator read around 14.4v when car running? Coz thats what my battery terminal volts LED says... but yeah, only 12v when off.

Ideal is 13.8V up to 14.4V but from 14.5V upwards batteries start to die quickly and strange things start happening. It usually means a problem with the alternater voltage regulater and isnt too expensive to fix. :D

I would say it an overvoltage issue, I had a regulator fault on a motorbike that blew every lightglobe and cooked the battery, it would charge at 19Volts after about 5 minutes of riding, that would explain the globe issues and the amp would most likely have overvoltage and polarity protection which would cut or reduce the supply to protect it'self.

Hook up a volt meter and if all is good go for a drive to make sure it stays good, if the volts are too high try not to drive the car as an ECU would be expensive, replace the battery first and check the volts again, an open circuit battery / high resistance battery or poor earth connection can cause over voltage issues.

Good Luck

ok. Guys, like i said, i check it first thing in the morning.

I hooked up the volt meter to my battery.

while the car was off, reading = 13.2v
while car is in "acc", reading = 13.2v
while car is on, reading = 15v

To my knowledge, the amp's earthing is just fine. like i sed, i haven't blown any fuses since i replaced that "parker globe" fuse in the engine bay.

what do you guys think it is? Just a weak batt?

I'd be toddling down to my local auto electrician about now, it sounds like your regulator and possibly battery are in trouble. He should be able to check it for a small fee and give you a quote. Then you get a second opinion and shop around. One of the members might know a good sparky in your area. :D

Thanks agen mate

I'll find an auto electrician sometime this week and get it checked out.
