Just made an interesting observation of the price difference between the 380 ES and 380 VRX. Historically for the TJ series the VRX was $8500 more expensive than the base model, for the TL series, the VRX was $8,000 more expensive than the base model, and for the TW series it was reduced to about $5,000. But for the 380 the VRX is only $4,000 more expensive than the 380 ES. I think the GT is overpriced, since it's almost $10,000 more expensive than a manual 380 VRX, but the VRX appears to be good value for money at $38,490. Granted the Magna VRX's had 8 kw's over the base models, but the only main difference was the muffler which is not worth the $4,000 - $4500 price difference.

I believe the BF Falcon is base form will be around $36,000 so for an extra $2500 you could buy a 380 VRX which I think is good value.

The values are as follows:

380 ES manual - $34,490
380 ES auto - $36,000
380 LS auto - $41,000
380 LX auto - $46,490
380 VRX manual - $38,490
380 VRX auto - $40,000
380 GT auto - $48,000

I think all the models are overpriced except for the 380 ES and the 380 VRX. The LS at $41,000, the LS at $46,500, and the GT at $48,000 seem a bit too expensive to me. What do you think?

good point. agree with that a lot.
(including the muffler bit... whack an aftermarket on the VRX and there's ur power increase).

You have a point to some degree. The target market for the 380GT would be squarely aimed at those who normally buy a Calais or a Fairmont Ghia, if that's the case then the GT is still $4k cheaper then the equivalent Calais or Fairmont Ghia.

The 380LX on the other hand I would have thought would be targeted at those normally purchasing a Berlina or the Fairmont, but the LX is actually more expensive.

Do notice that it seems the VRX is now second from the base model judging by their pricing, but its still competitive to someone wanting to buy a XR6 (N/A) which has a rrp of $36,500.

Anyone get the feeling the LS is going to be the dud of the range.

I think most people would take a VRX over it.

Haha.

I'm sort of with you. I love the look of the new 380, and I'm sure it will be a great car. But I (as in, myself) believe (my opinion - no flames) we'll be seeing 380's with similar resale values of the Magna's in a couple of years. It just hasn't got enough 'presence' in the market place. And once the new Commodores and Falcons come out, the 380's will need something to grab the attention back. That's why I'm hoping for an AWD or Ralliart 380... otherwise, I can't see it doing fantastic (not saying it will flop completely).

I'd have to agree with that. I look at is if the current large family australina car is at 0. The magna was at about -3. The 380 has bought it to +1. Yeh, the 380 is better than what's out on the market, but it wasn't a huge leap nto the future, you're new falcon and commodore will then probably hit the +3 mark and the 380 will need to do something good to keep up.
i'm not sure if that made any sence.. but i know what i mean!
