hey,

Any idea's what this will cost to repair:
I was installing new interior light, and the screws I used were little long......
Anyways they have left two raised small dents in the roof.
(I know....I know)
Anyone with panel beating experience able to advise what I'm looking at repairs wise, and how they do it?

oh noes!

I was quoted around $400 to repair my roof after I had a piece of flying steel hit mine from the back of a truck... it is expensive cos to do a good job they have to remove the window trims and stuff. Actually it might cost more cos I was already going to get a lot of stuff done to my car so the paint was already mixed etc.... good luck with it... is it that bad really? can you live with it? Has it stressed or cracked the paint?

yeah not good. Kicking myself!!!. I already needed back and front bumpers re-done as someone backed into the rear, and scratched front on gutter. Maybe they'll do a deal, but guess I'm looking at big $$$. bummer..............

advisable not to do anything else but your roof first, you dont want any water or some stuff going in causing big time rust. And do the major work first. decide which to repair the front or the back if you dont have enough cash.

u could fix it urself.just mask off a couple of centimetres around it 2 or 3 times to make sure ithe tapes thick. sand the area back to bare metal.ask a freind or someone u know whos got a flat head panelbeaters hammer and a dolly that follows the curve on the inside of ur roof.hold the dolly on the inside of the roof or get a friend too and take the hammer and tap the dent slowly from the out side of the taped off area and work ur way to the middle. take ur time and do it slowy , u dont want to rush in and start hitting the dent strait away.once u have it as flat as u can wash the area after taking off the tape. now buy some filler and apply it in thin coats untill uve covered the area.knock most of the filler down with 100 grit sand paper. when u have it close use some fine grit to stop any scratch marks and lighly do the edges so they feather out smooth.buy a can of primer/filler , mask off the area again clean it first then give it a coat or 2 . light coats so u dont get runs.take off tape, use very fine wet and dry sand paper. and sand it very smooth. buy a can of good paint that matches ur paint colour . mask the area again and make sure when u do any spraying u use a lot of news paper around the area so u dont get over spray on anything else. take ur matched paint and give it a few light coats. the panel beaters will do about the same thing.
but u wont be paying for labour.cheap 8 piece panel-beaters hammer and dolly set is about $30 bucks from super cheap, roll of paper making tape $3-$5, sand paper 40cents a sheet, primer/filler in a can $8, matched paint can $10, body filler $10 + ur time = about $70 a lot cheaper than the panel beaters and self satifaction of doing it urself.
