Hello all,

I received a 380 brochure in the mail today, and had a read, got to the part about convenience and was reading about the Multi function display centre, now, my point is, it is very similar to the MMI (Multi Media Interface) system in a Audi A6, apart from the radio being controled seperately of what i can tell.
Just trying to let you all know how good all this technology is, as all the central locking, interior and exterior convenience lighting and other things can all be acsessed through this.
Hopefully more people will notice this and it can raise the sale figures. As it is a brilliant innovation for both safety, and convenience.
I think i might have to take one for a test drive now, and i'll even right up a comparison of How the car fares against an Audi A6, in all aspects,(performance, comfort etc),as in other areas the cars appear very alike, aside from the price difference,

yeah, you can fully customise the car to suit you from the centre programmable display, it does things like adjusts: display brightness', settings, temperatures, door opening warnings, rheostat synchro, date settings, light adjustments, wiper adjustments, keyless entry systems, turns buzzers off and on, sets default settings....blah blah blah heaps of crazy functions!!!, also has an additional 10 function trip computer.

Also have bluetooth which is really cool, means that you can answer ya mobile when you dont even have it in the cabin with you, it overides the stereo and there is a button on the dash to pick up and hang up calls etc, this also "talks" you through when you are adjusting the bluetooth settings. The GT has reversing sensors too.

Notice the fuel filler cap release lever has disappeared!.... the flap is hooked up to the central locking of the car and auto locks when you lock the vehicle with the key or the remote, when the vehicle is unlocked you only need to gently touch they filler cap from the outside and it will open.

Its basicaly an Equivalent to a Audi A6 3.2 (FWD) at half the price. I'm more impressed by this car than i thought i would be.

Great!... so now everytime they disconnect the battery to service the car you're gonna spend 3 hours re-programming the darn computer - my neighbour complains about their new BMW 530 re this aspect. Those things REALLY need a 'Dump settings to USB stick' mode.

That centre display thingy is totally awesome, the salesman was playing around with it to show us a few functions, he pointed out about 20 things then lost me, it has sooooooooo many programable features, and it really looks the part too.

you make a good point, however i would probably still prefer to re-program it every time the battery gets reset then not have it at all..

Software upgrades! Welcome to the new world of Multi-functional computers in cars - the aforementioned BMW has had 4 complete software upgrades in its first year... presumably the Galant based 380 is a bit more mature out of the factory, but the point is an 'Oil Change and Air Filter' type service has become an occasion to upgrade the bugs in the software - so yeah its a pest sometimes and the ability to dump the settings would be high on my want list for a new car.

4 in a year, thats not bad, some of the Audi's are constantly updated online using our diagnostic machines, its the way its all going now

this is not really something new to Mitsubishi.... It has always been available, but was a 'workshop only' ****ion, where the technicians could make these changes to the vehicles using the "MUT", a small computer used to plug into the cars diagnostic systems and alters things accordingly.

By making the change to the 380 multi function display, its basically just allowing everything to be done by the owner from in the cabin. yes very awesome and such a brilliant feature to have... too much stuff to list!
