It's possible,
But the main problem you'll find is the OD button, 3rd gens have 4 spd autos as standard, whereas our cars are 3spd with the optional 4 spd button (OD). Relocating the switch is possible, just not sure what kinda switch it needs.
Would look alright though, you should get a 3rd gen wheel to complete the package :P.

they were all 3 speed autos with 4 as an overdrive gear..... holdens T56 gearbox is a four speed with two overdrive gears, 5th and 6th.

yeah it is a 3 speed.
has anyone got any info on where to start? i havent bought the shifter yet, but it is very easy to get my greedy mits on!
im not too worried about the overdrive button...dont think itl be too hard to relocate that, its the fact that the 3rd gens have the selector button ontop. how do i get around that???
and also: in 2nd gens, u can select 2 D N without using the button.....is this the same for 3rd gens?? or is it not of any concern to my situation????

i changed my gear stick to a 3rd gen one it was piss easy once u get the 2nd gen selector off you gotta cut some white plastic off the shifter slides straight on after that

You wouldn't be able to get me one too? :P
Also just a side note i may be getting another pioneer sub to match my other one, so if i do i'll let you know the size of the box i need :).
Not sure on the actual button side of things, but sounds like it's easy to do. The 2 D N without using the button wont be affected as it moves without a button anyway.
And yeh, 3 speed, TECHNICALLY it's a 4 speed, it has 4 gears, just goes 1 2 D OD which is basically 4th gear, but try driving on freeway with OD off, sits at nearly 3500 rpm! :O.
