Hi all, well as the title sugests i am planning on running an xbox media centre setup in my car, I have just purchased a 10.1 inch screen from Ebay, to be mounted to my roof ( flip down ) i was given two dodgy xbox consoles that can parts can be swapped and changed to make one decent xbox.

Now i have a problem with my head unit, it is a Eclipse CD 3434 and according to Tonkins Car Audio this head Unit does not support RCA imput, nor one of those stacker rca cables ( AUX 105 for those playing at home ). So i am stuck for what to do.

Should i keep the CD3434 and use a FM Modulator?

Or.....

Do i get a basic head unit that supports RCA input but doesn't have to support Mp3's on a budget of $300 bucks?

Your imput will be most welcome.

Someone was selling the ralliart eclipse ones for $400 with the stacker. http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25562
I'm not sure if it has inputs but they have every other feature so I would be surprised if there wasnt one.

Look at Blaupunkt head units, i haven't seen them in any actual stores (just online) so i dunno how much they would be. But almost every one of their models comes with an aux input.

many headunits come with aux in. If they dont, almost all pioneer, alpine, jvc etc can have optional plugs to convert the stacker input to aux input.

yeah mine doesn't and according to my audio supplier Eclipse's version Aux105 apparently wont work on my head unit.

you can get aux adapters that plug into the aerial socket directly. These will work better than ones that transmit low level signals, but in the end the best you can get is fm quality which is limited.

These modulators can be bought for around $70-$80 from jb hifi.

But I'd look at a new deck.

off topic...
what do you use to power the xbox?...
is one of those 12v to 240v inverters any good, seen them as cheap as $60-80 at jaycar???
or do you have to go to the expensive $300 ones???

Thats pretty much an inverter. If you want to seriously run it properly get a micro atx power supply for a car and convert it to the xbox. You will get much less power loss, will have a smaller package and will heat up less. But I guess the joytech is a simple no fuss way.

And now the people that helped me set this up,Game City (http://www.gamecity.com.au) my boss gave me an xbox and allowed me to get the power supply at cost price, Gametronix (www.gametronix.net) these guys modded the Xbox with an 80gig HDD, ( as i only wanted it for mp3s and music videos ) and wired in a remote switching setup, Frog Brothers Ink., Ebay Store (http://stores.ebay.com.au/The-Frog-Brothers-Ink-Tradezone) for purchasing the screen for me from ebay and Tonkins Car Audio Salisbury (www.tonkins.com.au) for installing it all.

Thanks to all.
