I plan on buying this, but i just wanna know if there something i'm missing. As far as i know this head unit does everything i want it to. Is there any reason why i should not get it?
I'm getting this head unit for the reasons below:
- 4 channel amp (Around the 50W mark)
- Aux Input
- Radio
- CD Player (Doesn't have to play MP3)
- Atleast 2 RCA outputs

got one of thes in gf's car, very good basic head unit.
i dont think it has 2 rca outputs tho.. double check on that one, from memory it only has the rear, but i have a bad memory.

The JVC KDG615 is a good fully featured Entry Level deck..
I have one and Love it..
Sure you don't get a Fancy screen but you get great features and Sub out for under $300.. All you need to head up a great sounding system..

Yeah well i dont want nor NEED a big screen. My MP3 Player will be the centre of focus.
Can you confirm that it has 2 RCa outlets? It says it has 2.

Nope it has 3 RCA outs
Front and Rear Channel
and Sub out.
It Has Auxillary in right on the Deck for Quick Connection and Disconnection of your MP3 player but it will not control your MP3 Player just the Volume and Sound of it..
Besides the 615 is an MP3/WMA compatable CD player.

Yeah nar i wouldn't expect control via the head-unit.
heh, do you realise how many MP3 CDs it'd take to hold on to 6000 songs? A lot heh.
I've got a good project i'm working on, i've made a dock to sit my MP3 player into and everything. I should probably post some pics of it soon. I also have a remote control (its still corded though) for the MP3 player which i plan to put in a real convenient place (putting it right on the steering wheel crossed my mind).

I am also interested in buying this Headunit, but am waiting until the end of the year so I can concentrate on my Uni exams
Could anyone in the know make a prediction as to whether or not this headunit would still be good value for money at the end of the year? Or will something else come along and take its place?

just a quick note just because it says 4x50w doesnt mean it has that power, IIRC there about 4x22wrms.

This is the world of Car audio.. You buy a head unit today, tommorrow there will be something new..
The Magic Coffee mug says No, the JVC KDG 615 will not be beaten as far as Value for money goes... but what does a Stupid Coffee Mug know....www.magiccoffeemug.com
No one is able to make a Prediction in the World of Car audio as like Computers everything Changes..
You never know, at the time you are ready to buy there may be a Special deal on Alpine and you may get one of their Decks for around the same Price as the JVC..
At this point in time it is the Lowest Priced Full Optioned deck..

Thanks Magnat,
Yea, I realise that it is difficult to make a prediction about a product in a constantly changing World of Car Audio; but I was only after a raw guess.
I was hoping that someone would have knowledge of some of these changes so I could be better informed of what the best deal may be at the time. (For example "Omfg dude, don't buy the JVC because a supermedgaultra Alpine deal will be on at xxxx in February!") :bowrofl:
But even then, I spose that things like that would be hard to predict. Guess I might have to wait until the end of the year and then see whats best at that time. Oh well
p.s: That Magic Coffee mug freaks me out :P

For me the Coffee Mug has had an 88% accuracy so yeah sorta freaks me out aswell.. I asked it if I would win lotto and I did... a whole $12.25c..
So when I asked it about the JVC it said the No, it would not be beaten..
