I'm wanting to add some subtle in car subs to my setup and from what I can tell the Clarion SRV303 is nice and should do the job I want. There's a spec on the things here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-CLARION-POWERED-CAR-SUBWOOFER-ENCLOSURE-SUB-SYSTEM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38647QQitemZ8007 660823QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD2V

I'm thinking a pair - one under each seat. They're 300+ each here in Oz - which is okay. Being a complete noob re audio I'm okay to pay for install but I'm worried about poor work. Also I can only find 2 installers for them - Doran Pro Audio in Bankstown and Ryda Car Audio at various locales. Anyone used and or can recommend either Doran or Ryda? Or know of another Clarion dealer they can vouch for?

thanks

PS: - the rest of the existing audio stuff already in the car is in my profile.

While the SRV303 Slim line Counterdrive Subwoofer would give great sound in a Commodore/Falcon or Datsun Ute it will be lost in a Large Cabin area like a Magna..

They retail for around $350 ish ( I got Quoted $299 as I was looking at these for a Friends Ute) they are not a "Full Bodied Sub"
There Bass would only be equal to your 6x9's there fore would be drowned out.

If you are after Bass and Dont want to use up too much Boot Space, a Slimline Pioneer 12 inch sub will suite Your Bass needs.

While I appreciate your comments - I do realise its not going to produce earth rumbling bass (which I'm not after anyway) but more likely THEY (I've specified two of them remember) will fill out the bottom end nicely leaving the rest of the speakers to cater to the mid and high. I have looked at the slimline 12" Pioneer model you mention - but it still needs a substantial box in the boot and I specifically want to avoid ANYTHING in the boot because I'm not willing to compromise the car's load flexibility just for added bass in the stereo. On the other hand I rarely ever have rear seat passengers so something located in the footwells appeals more to me you see.

Read online reviews on the SRV 303, then see a Professional installer he may be able to design a Sub enclosure to suit your needs...

They have more upper level Bass then Lower end...
Your 6x9's have more Cone Space compared to the 7 inch Cone the Clarion units have...

reviews - have read a couple of dozen on web sites - its split about 50/50 - some loved them some hated them. Most of those that fitted them to sedans or coupes fitted them in pairs, and they were happy enough - hence the plot outlined above. It must also be said those who hated them seemed to be, judging by their writing and their vehicles, to be very young and hence one assumes they were looking for serious 'rattle the roof off' Doof Doof, which as I said, isn't exactly my goal here.

Have you SEEN the recommended box for that Pioneer - its a metre long by about 50cm wide. So sure its shallow (10cm or so) but its still far too big for interior use.

BTW I get a decent enough thump out of the 6X9s really but they're not very resonant - that's the gap here.

Thats Odd, the Pioneer Slim line Enclosure was 15 Cm wide and Yes around 1 metre in length .. I had to go through all this while helping a Mate Get some Bass into his Dual Cab rodeo, in the end I built him a Custom enclosure and Low Passed a Set of JBL 6x9's.. It was enough to rattle and Pressurise the cabin..(Typical Teenager style Bass) The enclosure I built for him was 11cm Deep and 17cm high and 60cm long and fitted Directly behind his Rear bench seat..

Hmmm... yeah I think we're after different end goals here. Cheers.

Yeah I'm sitting pretty - been on/off looking into this project for a month now - ever since Ralliart Boy 'talked me into' the high end HU... Not doing anything for a few weeks at least but I'd make it my Xmas prezzie if I go ahead with something.

SARRAS: I have had FHRX install my stereo setup. What can I say? I am so glad I didn't find anyone else! It was set-and-forget...except for the stereo gradually shaking the car loose and bringing in more rattles...not Marty's fault of course :)

Give Marty a yell, send him an email...you may be pleasantly surprised :)
