I have a Pioneer HU (DEH-5950MP I think it's called). I recently noticed that when I am stopped at lights, the face starts to flash randomly. It dims to the level that it does when I turn the lights on and back to lights off level. I have found it to be linked to the brakes, as it only does it when I have my foot on the brake pedal. Anyone experienced this before? and how can I stop it?

Sounds like an Alternator Problem..
Does your lights dim aswell at night ?? as in Outside the car.. Do the dash lights fade aswell ??

Check ground wire on your headunit. Try grounding to the chassis, instead of using the stock grounds. (I'll assume you're using the stock grounds)

:stoopid: Yep comin problem.. wont be alternator.. if it keeps cutting out that s what it will be..

No other lights are affected, so it is probably the grounding as suggested. From memory I have grounded it to one of the vertical brackets (metal) immediately either side of the unit. Will check it and find a better one.

I thought it might have been the wires I used for the dimmer. When I installed it I bought an adapter from Autobarn that I wired into the HU wiring. However there was one wire on it's own (dimmer I think) not in the larger factory connector, it had it's own connector, which I left out. I wired the H/U Dimmer wire into the factory lights wire. It all seemed to work so I didn't question it. But now this is happening (about 6mths after install).
