hello,
In a week i am sending my car to get a Garett 25/30 ball bearing twin turbo installed. It will take about a week. The guy installing it wants $7,500 for it. Is it worth it or should I look somewhere else for a better deal???? Help
What exactly is being done to the car, apart from the TT install?

$7500 for a Twin Turbo set up ??
What are they not doing?
It should cost more ??
so are you putting two Garrets on?, its just the way you have worded it sounds like you are only putting one on, which is not a twin, but whats being done, just turbo and manifolds, or rebuilt with lower comp pistons etc

From what the guy told me it the whole setup. Also he was telling me about the increase in power, about 50% more. This guy I know him well. I think normally for this sort of setup u would be looking at about $11- 13,000. So he is doing it cheap. It will still be under Mitsubishi warranty.
From what the guy told me it the who setup
where is this guy? sounds interesting, but more details are needed

Any one intesrest he also does a garett singel turbo 30/40 ball bearing at 600hp for $5200 and twin which I mentioned. He does anything sport related from sports shockers to l.s.diffs. The name of the store is AXT TURBOS

Any Engine Tinkering Instantly Voids Warranty...
50% increase in power is going to need 100% internal Modification and for $7500 I cannot see it being done properly...

Not Likely!

He has done turbos for the past 10 years. he can do it for any car. He is selling it cheap because he is running out of business. Turbos cost a lot, petrol is on the increase and the last thing that people will do to their car is put a turbo. His profit margins are very low.
so are you getting a twin scroll turbo, or two turbos, as i am struggling to work out your definition of twin.

Yep, but it's still going to void your mitsubishi factory/manufacturer's new car warranty, and nothings going to change that.
Sprintex's Supercharger kit is fully ADR compliant and not even that is covered under mitsubishi's warranty - atleast Sprintex give you 12-months / 20,000kms what is this guy offering?

I just sold my twin turboed 3.5L that i built for my car (but never fitted) 2 months ago for $6500. This motor was fully rebuilt with 2 T28 turbos, forged lower comp pistons, custom exhaust manifolds, intercooler and pipeing etc etc. :D
I did all the work on this engine/turbo setup myself and it still cost me nearly $8000 with out a ECU, so id be very surprised if your getting a really good job done for only $7500.
Just my 2cents worth.

Yeah I know AXT turbos, theres a lot of them fitted to vehicles in perth in particular diesels, but havent seen so many lately, they do full kits with manifolding and the lot.

Lets just wait and see how his turbo install ends up. A lot of people talk about it but never do it... but he states he knows these people and is getting work done cheaper... so lets wait and see how it goes. We'll be watching and waiting no doubt.

yeah umm thats why he's getting it so cheap, not because its a jib job, its cause he knows the guy.....mates rates......
and if its a mate, its less likely he'll be doing a bodgey job on a friends car (lets hope so at least)....but yeah some more deatils would be good....hope to see specs soon.

once again ,would love to see what exactly you get for 7500 bucks. It just does not add up even for manifolds. turbos, IC, ECU, If its a manual, dont forget clutch and the auto, well, a full rebuild.
Let alone a set of low comp hyper pistons, rods, bearings, etc
Is he going to tune it, and how/what is he going to tune it.
Are turbos new, or a reco unit.
Anyone can fit a TT unit, wether it will work i dont know. If its sounds ok, go for it but remember.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is :doubt:
Good Luck modifing dude

hey guys some of you are forgetting you can run around 7psi without needing to rebuild your engine, so that alone will save thousands there. As work on an engine's insides is killer for labour .
But yeah, i guess it depends on the extent of the installation, how much R & D was done, and how much power the installer is expecting.
Remember you can fit a supercharger through sprintex with all brand-new parts, labour, and they give you a warranty, for $7500. So i wouldn't write this one off just yet . I also believe he said he is getting it cheaper somehow, so ya never know, maybe he is doing heaps of ther labour .
Anyways, i can't wait to see it done.
PS. note how many people are interested turbo kits for under $10 000, hopefully this provides some incentive for other companies to bring out cheaper les extreme turbo systems.
later
On their company website it says "We concentrate solely on diesel turbos, mainly for 4WD vehicles" which obviously mean that don't have much expertise in Magnas or any other family sedans or sports cars. My question is would you trust a company which works on diesel turbos for 4WD's with your family sedan even if they said they could do it? My concern is not as much with the price itself, but the quality of the twin turbo setup as it would seem the lower price is related to quality. I still have my doubts. I'll believe it when I see it.

No it doesn't. There is still manufacturers warranty and statutory obligation. Again Magnat you have no idea what you're talking about. What you're saying is to increase power by 50% needs changing of all internals. Again, not true.
